They also appeared in the episode about the presidential election. People with brain slugs were running one of the various third party booths and there own plan for the country was to plant brain slugs on more people. I love brain slug's obvious ploys to coax people into getting more brainslugs.

actually, about the brain slug starving...permit me to geek out here, but it could be due to Fry lacking the "Delta brain wave" common to all living things. The Brain slugs may have somehow taken their nourishment from it.
