Well, I finally finished consuming all that you have of this comic so far.
You've done an amazing job on character development all around. You've made me love Mikey in a way I never have before. He's usually just comedic relief. Enjoyable comedic relief. My favorite turtles were usually Raphael and Leonardo. But now Mikey is pretty even with Donnie and those two. You've made Mikey so round as a character. He has so many more dimensions to him now.
And Donnie. Oh Donnie. I absolutely love what you've done with him. I know some might not if Donnie was their favorite. He's actually the one I relate to the most even if that's not exactly comforting while reading this comic xD In any case, this comic explores the darkest parts of the turtles. Most would expect Raphael to be the darkest, but I think he just expresses it more directly than the others. Donnie caught even me by surprise in this. I wasn't surprised with Leo.Β
But wow, Donnie. That's why I love what you've done with him. He's really got a Dr. Frankenstein, mad scientist thing going on. Even if it caught me by surprise, when you really think about Donnie, it does make sense with his character. I like the fact that most wouldn't expect Donnie to be the darkest and craziest turtle in this comic. I enjoy dark angst and madness in characters immensely, hence why I love it so much.Β
It's funny cause Raph, Leo, and Mikey are all like, yeah Donnie went crazy. But it's like o.o nooo, guys, you have NO idea how far gone he is. And I really can't wait for them to find out what he's been up to. It's kind of interesting, because Leo and Donnie are the ones who have done the darkest deeds because of the curse out of the turtles. Granted, Mikey never got cursed because he never actually touched the katana. But I think that's ... sort of good, because how can Leo really ... condemn Don for the fucked up shit he's done/is doing when he's been hunting down a BUNCH of innocent people and killing them for 17 years? I just figured it will help later that Leo can understand in a way.
I really love the whole Leo and Don dynamic in this in general. That's also what's so awesome about Leon, the clone. I'm pretty sure he's actually Don's clone. It just makes more sense that way. I think Leon sort of ... represents all the harm Don is actually doing to himself. Sure, he fantasizes it's Leo and vents all his dark impulses and thoughts and uses Leo to blame for everything he doesn't like or want to accept. It's also interesting that he says similar things to the clone about "punishing" as Leo did when he was possessed and going after Raph in the prologue. It's like he's becoming what he hates. But it was pretty obvious to me, Leon is actually Don's clone. How else did it have the memories only Don does?
Poor little Don needs to be saved from himself.Β
I like that you wrote him being in love with April. I always kind of wondered when I watched the 2003 cartoon. The only sign of it was when April gave him that kiss once. Sure, I ship Don and April but really only in the 2012 one. Why? Because that show is lighter and more innocent. You can't really see those kids doing anything truly sexually graphic with each other, so you can suspend the reality of Don being a turtle with ... most likely a turtle penis.
Seriously, go on youtube and look up turtle penis. It is terrifying. Sure, our turtles are mutant turtles so the anatomy might have changed to be more human, but it's kind of doubtful. (I wonder if Renoir has ... explored this, I would feel sorry for the guy if he finds his anatomy is even more terrifying than the rest of his new appearance.)
In any case, crazy Donnie is crazy in this. I feel bad for the guy, but one can't seriously ship him with April in this comic. To me it's just part of his ... tragic fate in a way. Poor April is so clueless too. I wonder if she'll end up finding out about Donnie's feelings. That'll be wonderful and awkward (and possibly scary because Donnie so cray-cray right now).
Well ... this was a long ramble. I hope you liked it. Needless to say, I love this comic and eagerly await more.
P.S. I love Sadao. You're amazing for getting me to love a practically faceless Foot ninja. Like Leo, I really wanna see what he looks like under his mask too. I love it when he teases Leo.

Humm.. iv been thinking about Renoir and how his farther experimented with Raph's blood that he found after Raph had been cursed. If Renoir got mutated with after effects of the experimented with Raph's cursed blood would a weak curse transfer to Renior? but he has not shown signs of the curse much because of the pendent that Davianna gave him? The pendent looks like that last relic of which has a connection to the curse, like the mirror and sword.
Just a thought.

It breaks my hearth seeing how things went awfully wrong for poor Donnie in this story. The one less involved into the tragedy that started it all is the one who took such a critical blow to his sanity...Β I really hope all those "listen to your hearth" advice will finally pierce through his armor of delusions to let him see that his family is there and has always been there for him.
Beside that... I've read some of the comments, but I don't get the feeling he's trying to get Renoir ths time. I get the feeling that he went like.. "in RPG mode" and trying to win the game he's in (maybe that's just because of the headphone gadget...) Maybe he could get himself thinking of Leo as an NPC that momentarly joined his party, not under his control during attacks, but nonetheless an asset to take into account.
Of course, when you play, you usually don't care much about indivual characters, as long as one is still alive to resurrect the party... but, even if the level of madness Donnie is deep into is quite enough to make a gambit with one of his brothers to win this match, I hope he'll try to achieve a perfect score to impress April, who's looking at him right now.

Mikey is a lot LOT more intelligent and than he lets on.
His happy mood does not negate his serious and analytical side.
If anything, it's unintentionally a front, a mask that make people lower their guard... until Mikey pulls them aside and gets serious.
So... no, he won't be used or played like a fiddle.

April is so cute here. She loves tech and is ever impressed with Donatello. But Leo's face...such a mix of pride and growing joy that his brother is finally engaging in a real way with them. It's a tender expression crossing his face there that you just captured perfectly!
All of this is just building towards either something tragic or redemptive in the long run for the brothers - it could go either way. I'm on the edge of my seat and can't wait to see how you take this Tigerfog!

The pride and joy of Leo is but an ephemeral reaction.
All he's been doing for the last few chapter was putting up a front, with the constant reminder that he's stalling his brothers and deceiving them.
As for redemption, I'm just going to say that things have to hit rock bottom before getting better in the case of most of those characters. Just like Mikey.

He hasn't connected with Don in any way yet, so I think he sees it, momentarily perhaps, as a small victory. And yes, he is stalling - he and Don both have secrets they guard well.Β

Exactly, Leo didn't interact with Donnie yet, so when/if they are forced to interact, it'll be awful.
BTW, Raphael has a boatload of repressed feelings despite how he acts cooperatively around Leo, I've dropped a lot of hints all over the place to hint at a train wreck just waiting to happen.Β
