Description
The Red Death skeleton is very much based on that of a Triceratops, especially the arms. And I would have put the wing but it would have just been in the way
Plus I couldn’t really tell where it attached to her (yes I refer to the Red Death as a female) in this picture oops.
And yes the two skulls are a little different but you gotta give me some credit here.
Anyway, I tried to give her a more heavy set bone structure because of her giant body mass. Also, I would have included the ball on the end of her tail, but I think that isn’t a bone but either a giant ball of muscle, or cartilage. Because in order for a dragon to fly, especially of her size and weight, the bones would have to be hollow, like a bird.
And I don’t care how thick that bone would, it would crack and break, and that wouldn’t be good.
But yeah, here’s the Red Death in all her massive glory.

Actually, judging from the School of Dragons game, this is pretty accurate.
The ball at the end of her tail(Valka calls the Red Death a her so I'm following that. I always thought she was female anyway) seems to be gone, but the bone seems smaller, probably surrounded by layers of cartilage and muscle, as you theorized here. It would probably protect the bone.

Got a question about that foreleg anatomy; what's that between the scapula and the radius+ulna? It looks an awful lot like a patella.....

I think that was actually a lining mistake I just never bothered to fix. My sketches can get pretty hectic

How many Vikings do you think a red death could carry

This is so absolutely fantastic. I love how realistic all of these pictures are. I wish these were more popular!! The skeleton makes the dragon seem so believable, and it's definitely a reference I'm going to use to draw. Thank you so much for this!
P.S. I think the Red Death is female, too! Woo! :3

hehe you're very welcome~ and in all honesty, I wish they were too. The one I did for Toothless is the most popular out of all of them over on tumblr though. I'm going to continue these eventually too.
