I've recently seen something on the TMNT fandub called "Reverse Turtles." From what I can tell though, they are just a goryer version of the 2012 carnation. But not many people have expanded on the concept. The turtles just seem to killing for no particular reason. So I wanted to place a backstory that better explains their actions.

Mikey is shown to be bundle full of hate, and having a fetish for blood and death.

Yoshi bought four pet turtles in a pet store and in a horrible accident, mutated into a humanoid rat. Splinter grew bitter by this new change of events and continues to think of the turtles as pets. When the started speaking, Yoshi didn't see sentient beings, but rather students he can train. He is ignorant to his students calling him father and trains them for revenge.

When Yoshi was slain, Michelangelo and his brothers made promises to their deceased father. Mikey promised to "hurt those bad guys good!"

He began to take his training more seriously and gained knowledge in the arts of killing. He grows to become a more effective assassin and grows unstable in his teen years.

My Mikey isn't self righteous or cocky. His instability is the cause of his promise and his morals constantly conflicting. He wants to be the little kid we see in cannon, but he knows that he can't keep his promise if he does. So he tries to find ways to combine the two.

He tried to keep his family together, but he was too focused on training to form the strong bonds he needed. He doesn't want to be alone, but none of his brothers pay attention to him.
