Ok, I have just stumbled on your work and I can't help but want more. The only thing I have a problem with is drawing animals. I am horrible at it. I would love to do more fan art, but I'm so bad it is not funny.
But Silence is a poor soul and this picture just makes me want to cry. Poor baby thinking he has not soul. i can't help but feel sorry for him and that sister of his treating him not right. Sorry I'm ranting I don't mean to.
But I am getting attached to Silence.

You use tone and line intensity well in your sketches, and this one's no exception. Gah, I envy what you can do with simple ballpoint.
Aw, Silence. He's an interesting (albeit very pitiable) character. He's like Ed from FMA: I just want to give the poor fellow a supportive hug or some words of encouragement.
This is a bit of a morbidly curious question, but has Silence reached the point where the barbed wire has actually grown into him? I say this thinking about whales and other marine mammals that get fishing lines around them and actually grow into the wire.

hmm... maybe. I was thinking about that today. Some of it sits on top of the fur a little, but I'd think after a while his skin would adapt somehow to having that there all the time. I can't test it so I can only imagine it's something like what you mentioned with whales.

*nod* I've been toying around during class (hee) with my black ballpoint. It makes for some interesting shading and hatching.
Hmm, okay, that makes sense. If the barbed wire were applied when he was full grown, I suppose he might not grow into it? But if it were put on when he was smaller... yeah, I could see him adapting to it. I was wondering if anyone would be able to remove it from him.
It's pretty gruesome when it happens to marine mammals. Hence the reason people are discouraged from cutting loose fishing line and throwing away uncut bottle cases. I think it can also happen to dogs and other animals with too-tight collars. There's a squirrel on campus who has some sort of mesh stuck around its middle, and I'm hoping it can get it off before anything permanent happens. I might call wildlife rescue to see what, if anything, they can do about it.
