"I know that," Cale said, exasperated, enclosing the ring in his clenched fist. "It's just… he left me with a big promise. And I believed he would see it through. But it's been almost ten years since that day he left me, and…" Cale drifted off.
"Cale, you cannot blame your father for everything. Just because he wasn't able to keep his promise to you doesn't mean he doesn't love you. He left you because he loved you. Does that make sense, Cale? He loved you so much he wanted you to be safe, and for him, that meant paying any price."
"Awful price to pay," Cale muttered. "Losing your son completely." He shoved the ring on his finger and brought back up his head to look out the window once more. Tek, who could only see Cale's back, did not see the tears.

No idea why I'm uploading this. u_u I watched Titan AE last night and was inspired to draw something... I think I spent an hour or so just drawing this on oekaki, and got so frustrated I did that scratchy thing with the color and shoved it aside. I could do better if I was more into it or something.... I was having a hard time just getting it to look like Cale. O_o It's supposed to be a scene from my fanfic when he's 14 or something... naturally he ends up looking a lot like Jim... *sighs* Some people liked the way I colored it, though... ironic...
