edit: since people still don't seem to get it. THIS IS NOT BOYFRIEND ANGST. just said that. oh geezus. there are a lot of other people you can love besides the opposite sex. Valentine's Day is about love in general, not just your "Boy". this is more about loving someone deeply - ANYONE - and being torn between your hatred for the hurt they've caused you, and the hatred you have for yourself.

Hm. Well, there's a reason this picture has stayed in your "most popular" pastie on your site for ... forever (yes... I stalk you 
Yet again, your anatomy is surely near-flawless, and I for one am not a person who could find a flaw in it. The wrinkles around his eyes and nose scream "real" to me.
His eyes. I am intrigued by eye symbolism, and it pops up often in your art ("if eyes are windows to the soul, then I have no soul"). As you said in his bio sketch, his has been destroyed... such ravaged innocence. It's tragic.
The red lines and shading of the heart seem, to me, better than if you had colored the whole heart red. And I deeply envy your style of hatching and cross hatching, as I can never get mine to come out so smoothly.
It looks like it was either all black pen with the heart tinted, or black and red pen. I really ought to get some pens that aren't just straight black.
I suppose I should hush before you think I'm completely insane, but there will probably be more as I get in the mood. :3 Also, this picture made me listen to that song again. Good times.
One last note, I was thinking about buying a commission from you soon. xD

It was all black pen; the heart was tinted in Photoshop. I originally was going to keep it black, but I thought it looked a little too plain, and decided to make it red so it would stand out a little better.
woo commissions. I'm a little backed up at the moment, and now I have a day job so I'm kind of dying a little bit. :<

It does look much better with the red. ^-^ And I'm glad I can put my free time and big mouth to use. I love it! The shadows over the eyes and the dripping heart give it that macabre edge without make it lose its emotion. I must fave this because it captures me.

Okay, I've definitely fallen in love with Silence. His story is so interesting and tragic, I doubt I could have helped it in the first place, but I have a character, who happens to be my favorite in the world, that reminds me strikingly--in a mental sense and even to some extent a physical one--of Silence here. I thought that was a neat coincidence, anyway; great job with character design and background...he's absolutely fascinating.

I really love the emotion in this piece. The rendering is very nicely done. The sharp fading strokes add a lot to the picture and enhance the emotion quite nicely. I really like how the eyes are shadowed. It's a good effect, very drastic touch to it. The muzzle and perspective is pretty well done too. The lighting seems pretty good as well, I love the wrinkles in the muzzle and "eyebrows". The rendering done on the bottom of the face and muzzle gives the character a very dimensional form as well. Nicely done. The red on the heart looks awesome as well. Great texture, beautiful rendering. I love the stylized "blood" effect as well. Very effective. I really like your pen work.
Also, the simplicity of the colors and design add a lot to the picture as well. Very well done, you conveyed the emotion perfectly. Lovely theme and concept for the picture as well. Great job as usual.

I have never seen a picture that so adequately illustrates the depth of grief that is accompanied by the dent a loved one can cause on person's heart. Even though the image itself is pretty simple, it's meaning is quite clearly portrayed in the imagery of the empty eyes, barbed wire, and ironic message on the heart clutched in the jaws. I am not sure what it means to you but when I saw it I was incredibly touched by the way it perfectly described my own thoughts on the matter. It is odd that even those you should hate so much are the ones you can't help but love. Anyway, I appreciate this picture. Thank you for sharing ^__^
