Description
thank you to the people in my lifefor putting up with me...
.. man this is a crappy scan. ..; well. I started this drawing uh... maybe back around April or something, I honestly don't remember. I did most of the drawing and shading, then stopped once I got to the three on the far left side. just got around to finishing it tonight. really unhappy with the proportions and everything, but this meant a lot to me at one point, so...
these are friends, both 'real' and not, that have had some kind of influence in my life. there isn't /really/ any particular order... I don't know... obviously I couldn't fit EVERYONE in one picture, I decided.. somehow... anyways... back row from left to right: Jenny, Adaeze, Dana, Kelli (~Reich ), Lauren (~mirrinight ), Anne, Eric, Jenna (*jennadelle ), Vampiress, Silence, Kry/Kal, Chelsea (=spiritwolf77 ), Julie (~toastytook ), Jorie (~talawolf ), Arash, Andrew... front row: Tigrin, myself, and Tai
this is all done in mechanical pencil. except for the string, that was done with red ballpoint I think.
yeah, I have a headache.

I can't remember, this was at least a standard illustration board size... either 15"x20" or 20"x30", not sure.

Does the string mean/represent anything? It's the focal point, so...
Or was your life just a bit of a cat's cradle when you drew this?

The string is taken from, I think, an Asian myth that a person is connected to their soul mate through an invisible red string tied to their pinky finger.

ThatΒ΄s a very lovely piece of artwork, and it seems to be full of emotion.
Your pencilwork is very nice.
I recognized Jennadelle immdeiatelly even though I just know her from a few photos.
Does the red string mean something special?
SheΒ΄s in the middle and everyone seems to look at it, which gives me the idea that sheΒ΄s a big source of inspiration. Just my own interpretation, though :>

Lovely. Great composition, too.
Tigrin looks a lot of tougher as a human, somehow. And by that I don't mean he looks in any way wimpy as his Furrecat version, but the human Tigrin looks... mischievous?

tigrin In reply to Ashkevron [2005-11-01 02:50:12 +0000 UTC]
The human version is a bit different... when I drew this, he had an attitude very similar to Tyler Durden from Fight Club, but also kind of stern.... since then he's kind of split into two different people, Frantic and Tigrin... Frantic kept the Tyler attitude, a big ball of energy, cusses a lot... Tigrin is extremely logical and serious. I can't explain how but there is a difference between the "personality" and the furrecat character.

Ah. [nods] I see. I'd just never seen Tigrin's human version before [and "logical and serious" was how I thought of and knew Tigrin]. But now it makes some sense. Cheers for clearing that up for me.

the one on the back row, the 6th, looks like me o__o
I think it turned out fine, the shading is wonderful and god knows how you manage to fit so many people in one picture and make it look good...the proportions look fine, and i love the poses and expressions. I imagine it would have taken a really long time to finish.
I especially love how you drew Jenna, the expression is awesome.
Well done!

There are a lot of different stories about the red string in different cultures, but the basic idea is that it's a string of fate holding people together.

You did this in pencil?! Yeesh...that must've required patience. I thought it was ballpoint when I first saw it. I can never get that range of value with pencil. I instantly recognized a bunch of people when I first looked at this...myself of course, Jorie, Julie, Kelli, Anne, Lauren, Eric and your characters. This probably wasn't intentional, but I like that I got placed next to Silence since he's my favorite of your characters.

wow... this is really awesome.. one of the best pictures i've seen in a long time done completely in pencil.. you paid attention to so much detail, I love all the faces.. and from the people I have seen pictures of before, or your characters.. they really truely without a doubt capture the essence of and look like them.
Really amazing job.. I love the poses and the lighting and the shading.. I also love evryone's expressions, you really get glimpses of everyone's personality out of this. ::faves::

Yay it's finished! I like how you did the shading, and it amazes me that you did it all in pencil. From who I can tell, you got everyone's personality and looks spot on! So much character in one picture. It's amazing! Really like how it turned out, and the red string seems to tie a lot of things in... perhaps personal symbolism? Anyways, it looks very good.

GAWD this is gorgeous. The pencil really compliments the single red strong so well. This is just awesome; I looked at it for literally 10 minutes and when I first saw it, my mouth dropped, no kidding. I can't believe this is all pencil. You are truly amazing and should be very proud of this. ::snugs:: You're awesome, babe.
