this is really cute but i would suggest making the adult face a bit longer and the eyes smaller because it looks like the child version is just a mini or chibi version. There are many tutorials on how to make a face more mature looking and i think you should check out a few. I think it will help get the age difference across better.

Yeah I draw the children pretty much exactly the same as
I draw the adults- the adults are just bigger.
