(Be warned - the file is rather large )

'The songs are out there but you have to sneak up on them if you're gonna catch them alive.' Tom Waits

The culmination of a month of work.

The technical bit...
Media used: photographs, acrylic inks on paper, pen and ink drawings, photoshop 6, imageready 3.

All stock, textures, brushes etc. used are my own (some are available from my stock ~teatoo ), apart from some lovely scratchy brushes from 8nero [link]
The hand alone consists of 23 different 2 layer stencils drawn from my own photographs.

The bits that didn't work...
I was planning to pan and zoom in on the hand I've worked out how to do this, but haven't the time to fiddle with it. Instead the hand will have to stay disembodied for now.

Thank you for watching. Your thoughts are appreciated.

*edit* Just playing around with the preview image, didn't realise quite how small it would be!

This is really quite ghostly, I like a lot. It reminds me of the fairies at the bottom of the garden photos from the beginning of the last century. Or victorian sci fi loads of atmosphere

Really like the film effect you've put in there too, like the film has degenerated over time

Those were the scratch brushes I did a few layers of grunge and moved them around on each frame.

Oh and imageready helps to eat any sharpness and quality on photos

In imovie you just press a button, move some sliders, and it does all the work for you; I had to do it by hand It goes a bit fast at the end

you inspired me to have a crack myself at the old animtion stuff, the rather shoddy attempt can be seen in my scraps and avie is the result. It's jolly good fun though

Lovely work. I really enjoy the landscape and the "spoon trees" (?).
The film scratches and dust add to the feel as well.
Great job, I'm hoping there will be more like this in the future.
Also, I love the mushroom. Great concept.

Thank you me dear The spoon thing is a long-running theme, an old joke that I haven't tired of
I always carry a spoon, they are very useful
I wanted something explosive, and the mushroom popped to mind...

I don't have an advanced critique for this one. I will say, it turned out even better than I imagined. I'd love to see you do more of these. Please. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful I can't believe you quoted Tom Waits. He's my all time favorite artist.

Thank you That means a lot to me sweetie. Tom Waits seemed fitting... I'd just finished working on this and was reading an article about him... that quote jumped out.

Wow.. that's scary... love it to bits!!
I particularily love the landscape and scratchy film FX.

Have you ever thought about trying something like Flash? Just that you can re-use bits, zoom, and sequence things really easily and then distribute using a compact package.

Heehee, thank you sweetheart

I would love to get my hands on a copy of Flash, have to save up for my own computer first
I'm wondering how well it combines with photoshop? Zooming would be a wonderful feature
