The culmination of a month of work.
The technical bit...
Media used: photographs, acrylic inks on paper, pen and ink drawings, photoshop 6, imageready 3.
All stock, textures, brushes etc. used are my own (some are available from my stock ~teatoo ), apart from some lovely scratchy brushes from 8nero [link]
The hand alone consists of 23 different 2 layer stencils drawn from my own photographs.
The bits that didn't work...
I was planning to pan and zoom in on the hand
I've worked out how to do this, but haven't the time to fiddle with it. Instead the hand will have to stay disembodied for now.

this is an excellent animation. so many hidden aspects to the way it is composed,the pert buttcheeks as hills and the cute spoons as trees,just wonderful,the colourscheme and genral atmosphere is excellent too

This is just incredible! The grainy look to the film was a great choice and the animation of the hand moves so smoothly. Is the hand stenciled? If so, how many stencils did that take? Great work.

Wow, this is so amazing, although it's not finished. This has a very distinctive style, I love how NOT clean this looks. The hand animation looks very smooth and neat, and you should really continue finishing this, it's got great potential. I love how you incorporated your spoons, I had to look twice to realize what these thingies all over the place actually are.
Besides, it's really nice to see how well these different styles work together: The Landscape, being smooth and calm, the animations – rough but concrete, and finally the stereotype scratch f/x layer giving it an old, odd and intriguing style.

I will carry on with it I'm sure. I'm waiting for inspiration as to the wrist... I'm tempted to include fabric though that would mean a hell of a lot more work. I'm hoping to buy flash too sometime.

aha! creepy goodness! the spider-like movements of the hand give me shivers, as with the demise of the mushroom... overall a very imaginative piece. a +fav for sure (i seem to like your style).

'kay the treespoons are absolutely superb designs in themselves, and create a convincing still life feature to the animation, they look like thy'd make a wonderful print and combined with teh colour and wonderful graininess gives them a flock wallpaper type effect, the wonderful purple monochrome effect is wicked too really reminds me of the old speccy games i usedta have
lovely use of textures and brushes too, gives it a wondefrul silent film style effect, especially in combination with the lines from the edge of the stencil's cell (or whatever it was you used).... the movement of the hand is really good too, i'm very impressed as i am with the mushroom animation (though taht might be a tad quick) in all though its a great piece... reminscent in content at least of some of terry gilliam's work, using disembodied limbs and body parts and so on, but obviousdly the style is very different... nice and dark too which alongside the mushroom kinda reminds me of jan svaaankmiyer's (i'm so not gonna go look up how you spell his name) version of alice

thats cool that the shroom is meant to like boom wtf....
not seen a vast amount of svaanmiejer (i think thats a bit colser spelling wise but not 100%) only seen his animated version of alice, its really fcked up and really really dark from memory
all them thankses don't nod at the same time so they look like a little row of emotis on a stage taking their mimi-bows
