Description
What lies before you is my idea of what one of the Control Brains look like! There have been a total of three Control Brains thus far (I think.) The first two are similar in appearance and were present in 'Frycook That Came From all That Space" while Zim was being re-encoded, and also in Tak's episode while she was pleading to a Control Brain for a second chance at becoming an invader. The third was concept art for the unfinished episode 'The Trial', and it actually looks much different than the previous two control brains. The one thing I REALLY like about the concept art [ vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/z… ] is that the body looks kind of like a brain using the style of the show (much more angular instead of curvy.) I loved this design but I couldn't picture it as the actual brain. In the original two canon brains, it looked as if there was a HUGE system containing all the cords and metal that allows the brain to work, but it appeared as if it was all connected to a smaller component which was the real brain. For my design, I decided to combine what I liked most about both brains. Here you'll see that concept art was used as the main vessel containing all the incredibly complicated computer gizmos, all connected to that green-hued thing which I call the head. The eyes give off a sickly greenish glow which bathes the entire room in green. You can imagine the main body weighs a ton, so it's connected by a hefty amount of wires not only to support the weight but also to run the darn thing. I originally drew an Irken in the middle but I felt like it worked better without him...now I kind of wish I had included him purely for the sake of comparing size. This brain is huge. If an irken was standing right next to the head, he might be about the height of the middle of the head. (Assuming the head is touching the ground.)

Anyway, following up from what I wrote in my last deviation [Irken History HC] I wanted to write a little more about the Kuas impact on Irken history [and consequently their impact on all other species in which Irkens are interacting with or are enslaving.] First off, I think it's important to establish what kind of species the Kuas are. I may someday write a bio for them, but honestly I like to keep them in the dark even to myself, just to uphold that illusion I have of them. Kuas are VERY mysterious creatures. You never know what they're doing or why- all their actions are just a big mystery. They do have a tendency to speak with actions rather than words and, beyond the Control Brain speakers, they rarely speak up. That's a common thing among their entire race, and it's also helpful for the story here because we have a lot more plot going on down on the road that must remain an enigma
From the moment the Kuas entered that original war for planet Irk and won, they immediately put their plans for Irkens into action. In my theories, not unlike planet Earth, the political system runs like a pyramid with the majority of alien species being less powerful, and the next notch up the pyramid is more powerful than those below yet less powerful than those above, etc. Alien species happen to be so diverse and ranked in such a complex way that there's actually hierarchy's within another hierarchy. But this story pretty much takes place within or around the Milky Way Galaxy where there's obviously a lot less alien species involved, so we can say within this particular hierarchy we could split it into groups of five. The Kuas are about in the second to highest rank, and at this moment Irkens are in the lowest rank because they have absolutely no influence at this moment. Humans don't even exist yet, Earth has scarcely formed a spherical shape at this point. Beings in the upper three divisions tend to own millions of slaves, usually composed of entire species or entire planet's worth of citizens. Now the Kuas had a certain plan in mind, and that was to make the Irkens as basically their spokesmen. That decision was based off of the compliability of Irkens, and yes, they were the most eager to serve their masters out of their own nature. With a little TCL, the Kuas slowly built the Irkens up as their most important slave race, and also worked to make them capable of operating independently while still serving the Kua species.
So what does this mean?
1. The Kuas realized that food, military, and entertainment would put their Irken species in the top ranks. Without hesitation they funded all sorts of snack bars and snack planets, a huge Irken military complete with the best available weapons, and all kinds of entertainment centers that all belonged to IRKENS, except Kuas didn't want anything to do with it. As I wrote in 'Irken Society,' this helped them rank in TOOONS of money in almost the blink of an eye. It took many more years for the Kuas to move themselves out of the memories of the other alien species and for the Irkens to fully be established as the most powerful race this side of the galaxy, but they pretty much had it made within a century's time. The efforts of putting an almost invisible primitive species into the ranks of the most influential and powerful species within that 'qaudrant' of space was all easily orchestrated and intended by the Kuas themselves.
2. It was the Kuas who instituted the leader being the tallest Irken alive at that time. As far as the Kuas were concerned, THEY were the leaders and all Irkens served THEM. However, since they wanted the Irkens to operate independently as well (so they could go off and do other things while the Irkens did all the work for them) they needed to decide who would lead the Irkens. That way they could tell the leader what to do, and then the leader would pass it on to all other Irkens. Do to Irkens being very ant-like, they already viewed the biggest ant as being superior since the queen ant can be distinguished as being big. The Kuas took this idea and decided "heck, why not. Let's just make the tallest guy the leader" because they didn't care how it was decided in all honesty. They just needed some way to do it, being tall is what they decided on, and they knew the competence level really didn't matter because the Tallest weren't the ones who were REALLY running the show. It was the Kuas who would be giving them the most important orders, and the Tallest would decide however to lead the rest of the Irkens in the meantime.
3. Along with the insersion of the ID PAK came even more developments that closely mirrored the Kua agenda as opposed to the Irken agenda. The Kuas, since they're traveling at a lower dimension and are more evil by their very nature, are easily run by thoughts and feelings around fear and the ego. The Irkens quickly adopted a lot of this mindset and, over thousands of years of intervening on the Kua's part, Irkens became very self-centered. They felt themselves as superior, they refused to participate in anything lovey-dovey including anything that has to do with reproduction because it was icky and too mushy. The Kuas love military pursuits and as such, they developed their top slave species into a military-minded machine. Irkens began to deem anything overly emotional or sympathetic as counterproductive to the Invader-hivemind. Anything that wasn't about THEM was just silly.
4. Though MOST Irkens were gathered in those original ten years, the Kuas weren't entirely hellbent on destroying the entire Irken race. They never cared about the Irkens themsleves- that meant that they didn't care how they destroyed their lives and culture, but it also meant as soon as they felt they had most Irkens, they just left the others behind. In 'Irken Society' I explained about those tiny groups that still hold the beliefs of their old culture. Well, that's because they're the ancestors of those lucky Irkens who were left behind. These Irkens are very much aware of the Kuas massive influence on modern Irkens, but for the most part they keep silent about it. No need to invite trouble, but they're VERY sad about what happened to modern Irkens.
5. Even though Irkens work of their own accord most of the time, everything they do still belongs to the Kuas. That means all that money they bring in from snack and entertainment planets, though it circulates within Irken society, it technically belongs to Kuas. They can come and redeam it any time they feel like it. That also means every war they rage, every contract they make with another alien species, every planet they fight and win for... the Irkens and their actions belong to the Kuas, so they inherit all of this work when and if they feel like it.
In the end, it comes down to a relatively recent development in Irken history, starting juuust prior to Spork becoming the official tallest. At this time, the Kuas had been giving orders whenever the need would arise. Despite all the negativity the Kuas had spread for the Irkens in the past, at this point in history their only interactions with Irkens is to give advice and simple orders. For example, a Tallest or any random Irken might ask for time with one of the Control Brains, and they might ask what to do about a rebellion on another planet. A Kua would tell them what to do about it- whether it be sort it out with some Irken commanders or to genocide the entire rebellion as a lesson. After that, it would be the Irken's job to decide how to go about the command. While Spork had taken the positon as Tallest (just prior to his 'coronation') One of the Control Brains gave the command to host Impending Doom One. In other words, the Kuas wanted the Irkens to claim all or as many surrounding planets as they could. Since Spork died that day due to Zim's intervention, the task was handed to Tallest Red and Purple. (I'm very tempted to make Spork the Tallest given the order of starting Impending Doom One because he was frankly an itiot and therefore easy to control. When he died unexpectedly, the Control Brains wanted another stupid leader, so they took Purple beyond his will to be injected with growth hormones. In case that failed, they took Red to get it as well. As a result, they both grew almost overnight and no one questioned it.)
Impending Doom 1 and 2 are very important because everything the Irkens do are in the name of the Kuas. BASICALLY, what the Kuas are doing with Impending Doom 1 and 2 is to conquer several planets without lifting a finger. The Irkens are doing all the work.
Now, let's say there's a 'rumor' going around that this was what the Kua's had intended for the Irkens all along. They wanted them to gain strength in military and influence, so that they could take control of all surrounding species in this area. Once Impending Doom Two becomes a success, the Kuas will delete the information on their PAKs without warnig, leading to the extiction of their race in just ten minutes time. The Kuas will then come out to rule the pre-conquered planets. But I'll keep this at a rumor for now
For NOW however, the Irkens are living it up! They're all rich, conquering planets for kicks or so it appears on the surface, having tons of fun. Several generations have already gone by where Irkens just live their lives in total bliss, not having to face the consequences of bullying the surrounding alien races. SO, don't feel bad for these guys's history...they're living it up right now. For now, for now....

The scary thing is, based off of the type of 'people' the Kuas are, they probably WOULD destroy the entire Irken race without reason or warning. Just on a whim...because they're like that THANKSSSS, it means a lot to me that you're reading it at all!
It's still a work-in-progress but I'll keep working on it

Can't let ALL your characters be princesses I like to have some diversity in morals, because that's how it usually is in real life. A perfectly pleasant character and a perfectly evil character fits well in stories
