Description Note to self: Take warnings on Transformers packaging litterally.

FIX IN LINK IN DESCRIPTION BELOW!

Mine genuinely does NOT want to stay in vehicle mode.
Though I prefer the robot mode, I was hoping it would be a fun toy, just like Flip&Change Lockdown, but then a "click-robot-click-car-click-robot-click-car-..." toy.

And apparently mine isn't the only one that's faulty, they all are!
Be warend if you buy one!
SHAME ON YOU HASBRO!

I have been investigating the problem and I ended up finding the mistake and figuring out a modification to do make him work!
Here's a link to a journal entry in wich I tell you how to fix him in just 4 simple steps:
tim1995.deviantart.com/journal…
Please share this mod if you like it and if it works for you!

But I do like to point out that he's very, very detailed.

And that's why you should get Lockdown from Generations series. Sadly, I can't find any Generations Transformers in my country. I know that there's ToysRUs in Wrocław but I've never been there. And I'm not sure if I can find any.

By the way, Animated one is better.

I have the animated one...
I have ROTF Axor (Lockdown remold)

The Generations toys are sold here (wave 1) so I hope I can catch a Lockdown.

But if you use the fix I found for him, he becomes A LOT more fun.

I'm not interested in RiD versions. Nor in AoE toys. Only on Generations and Prime/Aligned ones. But I'll keep that in my mind just in case.

And I've been in almost toy shops in Poland, and mostly there are RiDs from the movie and some unsolds from Beast Hunters.

Same here, though we have AOE-Generations too.
We don't have 30'th Anniversary-Generations.

And since Deluxe Lockdown is in a revision of wave 2 (wave 2,5) he's gonna be hard to find, but I'm gonna try my best to get him.

The firar Bee I might actually consider buying.
No, wait, the second one! The first one was in the NEST 2-Pack with Infiltration Soundwave... but that was because I wanted Soundwave.

I have no idea why they didn't release them yet.

Nope.
He came out of the plastic bubble, I cut the rubber band and he said 'pop' (like an activator would transform) and he doesn't want to stay in vehicle mode.

But every review I've seen so far has the same issue.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tim1995 In reply to PunchieTheNeko [2014-09-22 17:40:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah.
But I've managed to spot the problem:
When you press the windshield button a little hook unhooks from the robot back, pushing the roof upwards (in car mode) and the limbs outward.
To transform him back you're supposed to (lay the robot on his belly and) push the roof down, locking that hook into the robot back again.
But here's the catch: it doesn't lock back. Possibly because the spring pushing the roof outward is too strong.

Either a really strong spring or a really weak hook.

Pulling the spring out, obviously.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PunchieTheNeko In reply to Tim1995 [2014-09-23 12:49:45 +0000 UTC]

Ah. Have you considered cutting off a section of the spring to make it less stubborn? I think that should help out if you decide to put it back in place.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tim1995 In reply to PunchieTheNeko [2014-09-23 13:53:02 +0000 UTC]

That did cross my mind, but the hook mechanism didn't hold together well enough for me.to decide to put half a spring in.

But this way works as well, now you just have to push/pull the roof, though I don't see why they call this a kids toy since the amount of force you need to push the roof down is more then I'm comfortable with in terms of putting forces on plastic and the plastic cracking or breaking.

You got a point, but as a kid I had Unicron Trilogy toys.
They didn't have panels that didn't line up and tab in almost automatically. They could only be mistransformed.
I see them as better kids toys then the current child-friendly line.

Tim1995 In reply to PunchieTheNeko [2014-09-30 15:02:10 +0000 UTC]

That's why Hasbro made the 1-step, flip&change and power attacker lines.
But on their to-do list, Generations (AOE too) was higher, since most of their Transforers income comes from collectors.

And they don't want angry parents, so they tried deluxe sized Cybervesre figures.... didn't go so well.
So they tried these guys. And I thin it works better. (especially because Generations (wich AOE) are still 'real' Transformers)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PunchieTheNeko In reply to Tim1995 [2014-09-30 15:42:33 +0000 UTC]

"most of their Transforers income comes from collectors?" Where did you read this information? That's probably true for most of the Masterpiece line and Generations stuff/whatever's supposed to homage G1 or even the Beast Era. Even if that were accurate, Hasbro is always going to be a toy company and needs to think of the children first.

I think the upscaled cyberverse figures would have probably worked better if they actually bothered to sell them stateside. I never saw any.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tim1995 In reply to PunchieTheNeko [2014-09-30 18:03:09 +0000 UTC]

Hasbro is a toy company. But Transformers likely wouldn't exist anymore if it wasn't for the collectors and adult fans.

Neither did they sell those upscaled cyberverse figures here. We were still up to our knees in wave 3 and onward from Beast Hunters.
That's how well they took off!

PunchieTheNeko In reply to Tim1995 [2014-09-30 18:45:52 +0000 UTC]

Why do collectors keep insisting that they somehow collectively spend more than parents with kids?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tim1995 In reply to PunchieTheNeko [2014-09-30 19:57:53 +0000 UTC]

Dunno.
But I think that's because with the fanbase is relatively easy to get a rough idea of the total number of fans and their average spending, compared to parents.

But it's definetely tge combo of fans and parents that have kept Transformers alive for 30 years.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PunchieTheNeko In reply to Tim1995 [2014-09-30 21:40:25 +0000 UTC]

I think it's more like collectors pay more money and form more figures per person (not including third-party stuff of course.) That may be a high number, but put that up against the hundreds of thousands of parents who occasionally let their kids pick out an item or two while they're at their local department store, then the number of adult collectors seems mush smaller. I think there are far less of us than there are people who play sports or video games or hunting or fishing for hobbies.

Tim1995 In reply to PunchieTheNeko [2014-10-01 06:35:21 +0000 UTC]

PunchieTheNeko In reply to Tim1995 [2014-09-30 13:08:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but back then the toylines were much less complicated. the most complication you could get was Megatron or tidal Wave. I think the movie toys started the whole trend of overly-complex stuff like panels that don't line up and stubborn tabs. At least AoE "Generations" figures now seem to avoid being over-complicated for the sake of over-complication.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tim1995 In reply to PunchieTheNeko [2014-09-30 15:06:07 +0000 UTC]

The movie introduced alt modes and robot modes that were way too complicated.
But it makes for awesomely accurate robots and vehicles! You got to admit that!

But -espcially on the voyagers ad bigger- they started to overdo this in terms of complication. That's why ROTF figures weren't much fun to trasform.

DOTM put the brakes on a little. The Deluxes and Voyagers now were less complicated, though the voyagers were....ehhh... even worse.
This trend is continued in the AOE-Generations figures.

I can't say anything about Generations, since the closest toy I have to Generations as it is now is FOC Shockwave.

A Transformers body with GI-Joe limbs and a my-little-pony head. (Figuratively spoken, of course)

But I am looking forward to getting my hands on a AOE Deluxe Lockdown, he looks really neat.
