Can/do you work in 1/12th scale?  Lots of miniaturists do castles, medieval scenes and there's always Aunt Marie's trailer from Grimm...

Amazing! These must have taken ages to make. the detail is mind blowing. you must have rubbed your hands raw sanding them!!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TimBakerFX In reply to TheLadyPope [2008-09-09 17:03:25 +0000 UTC]

oh yes, my fingers were sanded and poked raw, but i'm happy with the way they turned out

TheLadyPope In reply to TimBakerFX [2008-09-09 17:17:03 +0000 UTC]

Know the pain. i love sandpaper but it hates me. they were definately worth all the hard work! Well have to treat you to some really nice hand cream or something!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TimBakerFX In reply to TheLadyPope [2008-09-10 01:54:04 +0000 UTC]

Yep, big bottle of lotion in the shop so my hands don't get as rough as the sand paper

Sleetwealth [2008-08-29 06:49:44 +0000 UTC]

Incredible! Are those really difficult to make?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TimBakerFX In reply to Sleetwealth [2008-08-29 14:57:55 +0000 UTC]

Thanks they really weren't hard at all, just some nice quiet nights in my shop with aluminum stock, my small grinder and those fingernail polisher pads (think I listened to 5 audio books while i made them

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sleetwealth In reply to TimBakerFX [2008-08-29 23:58:11 +0000 UTC]

hmm... I could stand to have some metal blades for my figures. 5 audio books huh? Now that is a diffenrt way to gauge stuff!haha

TimBakerFX In reply to Sleetwealth [2008-08-30 00:58:17 +0000 UTC]

hmmm, art trade perhaps?

hahaha, yep, the Pirate ship treehouse was all of lord of the rings...The Silmarilian included

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sleetwealth In reply to TimBakerFX [2008-08-30 02:02:10 +0000 UTC]

Maybe. What do you think they are worth and can you make fantasy styles?
heh heh didnt know they had simirilion on audio.Lord of the rings we used to listen to all the time before the movie even came out. I dont think we could even finish in one day if I recall right.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TimBakerFX In reply to Sleetwealth [2008-09-03 17:27:57 +0000 UTC]

I can make anything, any style you want hmmm, worth, who knows?

I love the Simirilion as an audio book, because I listen to in in the shop when i'm working, I don't stress when I get lost in the names and plots

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sleetwealth In reply to TimBakerFX [2008-09-04 22:49:23 +0000 UTC]

Well ya gotta give me a price range so I can guestimate which of my works would be a good trade. Or I can pay cash for it.
Um I have a Valkyre commission request which would need a ara appropriate sword and sheild. I could make a shield of nearly anything ,but clay for swords is too thin droopy and the metaillic finishes look paintedish regardless what you do.

Ive often wanted non era specific fantasy swotds and daggers and celtic/viking inspired one for my arthurian pagan characters. I can make handles myself, but the blade part I dont know.
Anyway give it a thought if you want to do it at all.
I think Id like to get that simirilion cause the book is difficult to get through ,but as background while working I bet its great. Ive been meaning to get Harry Potter audio too.

TimBakerFX In reply to Aigilas [2008-08-17 00:58:41 +0000 UTC]

I do a lot of boring graphics too, touchup and repair on props or lately, endless retouching jobs adding freeways into photo's. So I guess a job is a job but sometimes I get to work on really fun stuff
