Contest Integration by =TimberClipseHey guys!
So this is my second large suggestion in the past few weeks. The idea? To take one of the largest factors of art, contests, and integrate it INTO deviantART!
The idea features a clickable list that would show group, deviants you watch and official dA contests. Each list is expandable and you would be able to hide lists you don't want to see as well.
This idea could also eventually lead into new ways to use your message center including but not limited to:
- View deviations related to current contests
- A Calendar with contest deadlines as wella s other events on the left hand side
- etc.
Non-Viewed Features
These are features I was unable to add, but would be part of it in an ideal situation:
The features would include notifications on the home page when there are new contests. An option to turn the contests list on or off. An option to send you a daily digest (via note or announcement or email[?]) of contests that end in the next 2 weeks. Hide lists in the main list you don't want to see currently and expand with a single click. Option to view only contests applicable to age groups and international/US Only. UPDATE 25 March 2011, 12:00 AM EST: Suggested by `namenotrequired : A complete listing of all blogs and journals that use this extra feature that could be searched. My own addition to that is that each could then also be split up by what mediums are allowed. This could be done through a series of check boxes. Implemented
Total Time: 2 Hours with FireBug + 1-2 Hours with Photoshop and Other apps. (About 4 hours total)

Added, per suggestion and then revision by `namenotrequired a section that would allow you to browse contests currently going on, even if you don't watch the deviant or group.
I then further revised it to automatically count these journals as news article so that they don't make deviants post both journals AND news...

I think if it's gonna be implemented, it'll be a Premium Feature - dA was desperate enough to take the auto-fullview option from ~members and give it *members after all!
I don't know what's so bad about the idea of everyone being able to host a contest. Everyone is able to upload a deviation as well after all, you just need a good search engine.

There is no reason it would have to be a premium members feature, though it could be possible that the full options would be for premium members.

Yeah, well, I don't buy the image of a poor dA while they keep having llama parties for a tiny percentage of the community, but whatever.

If you don't like it, then mind if I ask why you signed up for the site 
You did have to sign up, so doesn't quite make sense to me.
My point being don't be upset about it, we all love deviantART, and my suggestion's point was not to say that dA needs more/less money, it was simply to make people's lives easier by implementing something that lots of deviants use. Contests.

Truly brilliant - I love this idea.
I'd like to feature more contests on my page and journal, but I don't always have time to go searching, or to keep up with contests that my friends and/or watchers post on their journals or news articles. If this could get implemented, that would be beyond wonderful, beyond epic...it would move into realms of unspeakable joy.
I don't know if it's possible, but what about on the Contest tab also being able to click straight to any news articles a person or group has made for a contest? (For easier faving of contest news articles.) I know one can usually find a link to a news article in a contest journal and/or blog, but that's what popped into my mind as another possible option.
Your hard work, organization, and dedication definitely show in this presentation - kudos of the highest order to you!
If dA ever polls us deviants on making this a reality, just know that my vote is a resounding YES!

It does share the idea that was just added (per suggestion of :devnamenotrquired:) that is the bottom part that displays the idea of a way to see a full listing of contests. I wonder if his idea of that came from your deviation?

Well, the idea of the contest came to me. I made this and uploaded. He saw this and he asked me to think about this and this. So I did, I re-fixed and explained more about this.I don't mind.

I think that's a good Idea. perhaps when you categorize something as a contest using those extra options in a journal it could go into a full listing of contests. Something that could be searched, etc. That's a great point! I will edit it right now

No i edited it. Blow it up, you can see I changed the titles, there is only 1 title bar not 2, edited the titles, edited the author all of that jazz
