Description
Type 30
NOTE: This TARDIS design can be attributed and accredited to The God of Doctor Who comic art, Dave Gibbons, whose work is timeless and amazing!
700,000 years after the invention of the Type 1 the people of Gallifrey agreed that a TARDIS could be used to safely participate in the Web of Time. However violations of the Laws of Time were (and still are) still possible.
Like the Types 15-29 this TARDIS had default exterior that is a silver-grey metallic cube 3 meters on each side. But it was the first equipped with a Chameleon Circuit. Development of the Chameleon Circuit began before Omega was lost. Technicians successfully tested the prototype for the circuit shortly after the Eye of Harmony was created. However the circuits were not installed as a standard part of TARDISes until the Type 30. This was done because lost timeships were creating legends and mythologies of monsters and gods among the lesser species.
Like other pre-60 types of this era, the Type 40 often developed faults
with its Fluid Links.
- First to be considered safe for chronoforming history.
- First to have a Chameleon Circuit
- Frequent fluid link failures.
- About 200 years after the birth of the Doctor the Mark II and Mark III upgrades of the Type 30 were very popular.
About one million years after the Eye of Harmony was anchored, Gallifrey began to enter into a period of stagnation. The Time Lords discovered Quantum Mnemonics. This science is capable of altering the nature of reality and probability, allowing one to reshape an the history of an entire planet. This form or reality manipulation was far superior to the block transfer equations used to create a TARDIS. Despite this, TARDISes continued to be constructed using block transfer computation. The Time Lords turned aside from the barren road of technology and abandoned experimentation of any kind. This cultural stasis would last more then a million years.
(before time travel / after Block-Transfer / At the time of the Type 30 is being designed / not too long after Gallifreyans begin traveling in time) The Chameleon Circuit is successfully tested.
The Type 30 TARDIS will also be the first with more then one Control Room as well as the first with Perception Filters. The Type 0-29 Capsules will become known as ancient TARDISes. Almost all pre-Type 30 will be scrapped or have died of old age by the beginning of the Last Great Time War.

This looks like the TARDIS that Plutar was working on. (I'm old enough that I got issue 9 when it first came out). Very interesting write up!

This IS the type Plutar was working on. Now, there are special models that come in a different colour, like the one Plutar was working with, in the comic they had it depicted as Yellowish/Gold. So similar to how the Type 45 came in a white opaque color, and the Master's was a specialized version, which also came in a Yellowish/Gold. Write up was done by my Co-writer and editor of content from the www.whoniverse.net website William B. Swift.

Are those hydraulic rams? Lord, they look primitive.

Indeed! This is the same ship depicted in the comic book story "The stolen TARDIS". It was also mentioned in an audio story. The Type 30s were still in use somewhat and were convertable to the Mark III console system, which some Time Lords would upgrade to over time. All Type 30s were decommissioned by the time the Type 60 came around.

I haven't read that comic, sorry. When are you planning on adding the Type 60?

Much later. For now, I plan to detail these models first. Once I am done with them for the compendium, I plan to work on the Type 60s and up. But, I will be stopping short of anything beyond the classic era, as the time war era will be in a separate supplemental book to the TLC
