My school trip is a slim path going through the woods and in the morning there is no light. At all. Just my flashlight. I made this drawing to tell how I feel in the dark: seriously scared!Related content

Yes, the dark woods and a flashlight. + the monsterous figure has slim fingers and is a dark miasma. Slendy is very slim and has those tentackle things on his back.

this is really well done! you definitely captured not only perfect shading and lighting of a forest at night but you managed to capture the feeling of fear. this could apply not only to the fear of the dark but other things as well such as being alone or death.

The shading was not as difficult around the flashlight but around the monster it was really hard to come up with a way to draw the trees but still keep some contrast so that the monster or the trees behind it wouldn't dissappear.
Hmm... Haven't thought of it that way. I guess it does.

Definitely one of the most amazing artworks I've seen.
why?, because, the creepy feeling can be seen, and almost felt. Β The darkness and threatening Β forest, it's just beautiful, yet frightening. It's like the forest itself, the trees and shadows making a 'physical' monster.Β

Thanks! I definantly think it's one of my finest works. It's pretty cool. I can't really explain the fright of darkness with this but it comes close.

Fear is indeed an interesting subject as it can only be fully understood if one feels it. Sure you can just read all about fear, know everything involved in the process but that doesn't mean you feel it. Same as colours: both parties are sure that something seems red, yet they can't (with modern language) explain to each other how they feel "red".

I'd explain red as Β ''the common color of tomato..''Β Β that's red.. yeah.. Β A+
but that's right, feelings and thoughts can never really truly be told or understood by others. not even sadness. .. and I find really fascinating is that art is pretty accurate with the feelings, in this case... picture really tells more than a 100 words.! (this goes with colors too...

I had a really hard time with the background behind the monster. I could not come up with a good way to add trees there. How do you draw a black shadow-monster in the dark woods?
