Description
Progression of a Comic Book #7 By: Tim KellyPage 4 Layout
For this page i wanted to show Lucy and Plus to be kinda on a stake out, high enough that the music could flow away and find its target. and to show some banter... and their bike.
Again, i have all the words written on a separate layer that i have hidden, but its there so i remember what is said, because i am not writing a script. I call this "Wing It" style.
Basically you get the idea that they have a witty banter relationship between them, and that Plus needs to Lighten up..... or That Lucy needs to grow up. you decide. different readers eh?
So for the bike. I wanted it to be a hover bike. which i had forgot when i was drawing the first picture of them.
mid way through this page i decided i didn't like this bike i drew, but i wanted to just finish this page, so i just told myself i would have it blow up later and they can get a new bike that i designed after i drew this. Also, i decided that i needed to know what Lucy's feet looked like.
I wanted to draw then shooting down the mountain on the bike. but it didn't fit the composition of the first to panels. so it ended up like what you see. i also needed more space for the dialogue boxes and word balloons.
Oh yeah, i figure i will want them to pull out stuff like maybe goggles or a shotgun, maybe a tent if need be... hence the big back Plus is holding. also, i like drawing those.
See? its mainly based on what i want to draw.
i don't know if i recommend that, but for fun's sake i sure do.
check out that background too. pretty detailed stuff huh?! hahaha. sigh.
Till Next time

my comments I just left on 6 fit really good here
and yeah, no prob with loose/sparse backgrounds
that's the beauty of comics, they're not always necessary, and can sometimes get in the way (of the page/art, and also, and this can be key... production )
