It's amazing how the vegetation is so much alike in our areas when I am so much further north. Our sumac are mostly at the orange stage at the moment.

I saw some yesterday that were a deep crimson, but today I was driving east of here and saw some still very green. Weird!

Most of ours is pretty red but I haven't seen a really amazing stand of sumac that I want to photograph and the leaves are starting to fall so they will soon be bald.

Wow !!! These are awesome! What a redish red !!!
Gorgeous! Is this one the same that was spotted on the distance on a previous shot ?

I have only seen such reds on Acer palmatum, a japanese tree...

Karen

I zoomed in on the raw image of the previous shot. The lower lying reds in that photo are sumacs, but the taller ones must be a type of red maple. The sumac is beautiful this time of year as it goes from green to yellow, to orange, and everything in between and finally a deep crimson.

I will search the internet to see if I can translate the names
into trees available here !
