Description
Looking up through an oil derrick. I shot this thinking I would crop or edit out the clouds, the tree limbs, and the piece of wood, but when I looked at the photo I decided to leave it as-is. I think those elements "ground" it and give it more perspective.Related content

Nice colors and contrast. In my opinion I would get rid of the trees on the left and make the photo more central.

I almost did this with an electric pole/tower yesterday! Now I'd feel like I were stealing your idea if I went back and did it haha

very cool! I agree with leaving the clouds and tree...but the other way would be a fun optical illusion type shot, too

I think I would throw up about the thirds rung.

I think you made a great choice. This is a very interesting shot but I think watching you take it might have been just as interesting! Is this one where you crawl in on your back and wonder if you'll ever get out again?!

I'd like to tell you some story about crawling for just the right angle but the truth is I stood there looking like a tourist in a small town taking pics of a local landmark that might get 40 visitors a year
