Description
Every year my family meets up and to do the traditional pumpkin carving for Halloween. I had to skip it the night before because I got stuck studying for a midterm, but tonight said, "To hell with this university crap," shoved the books away and headed home. And in all things random they had one last pumpkin left to carve, lol. This all I could get for a photo from my cell phone, but the one with the light shine in its mouth is done by yours truly, have a Happy Halloween everyone!

When you live in a place like Canada........*equips toque*..... cool is all you got!
Still enjoy the times our family can get together like this and cook up some neat pumpkin heads for the Halloween times. Not to mention my dad continues to impress every year with some of his mad scientist creations. ^O^

I never got to hear what you did for Halloween lad, anything regards to pranking or just chilling through the night?
There was an ample supply of good pumpkins there, a shame still my phone couldn't pick up more of them, whatever. ^_^

Still they aren't that hard, just cleaning them out, that's the bugger, lol.
Actually cause my phone I could only get these ones here, my dad and sister had some really amazing ones but they refused to show, alas.
But in any case thanks for the comment inisipis and hope you had a Happy Halloween. ^_^

Happy Halloween to you too.
Here in the Philippines we celebrate the more sombre Catholic holiday of "day for the dead" in Nov. 1. Were the entire family visits the graves of their departed family members. In the cemetery along with lots of other people for one day, we held some sort of small family reunion. We put flowers, candles etc. , say special prayers for the souls of the dead and basically keep them company. It all went well yesterday so i hope the spirits of the dead are happy.
Pumpkins are hard to come by here, so there isn't much a tradition for pumpkin carving here. But, when i was living in Las Vegas Nevada and Halloween came along, i just gotta try my hand on it. Even though none in my family knows how to carve it. I buy me some large pumpkin and carve it out with a kitchen pairing knife. It came out well i must say for a novice ( i later found out that there are some pumpkin carving toolkit that one could buy ,which i think would made the job a lot easier and less messy) But it was fun and the kids loved it. so I'm happy

You live in the Philippines? That's amazing, beats the hell out of ole Canada here, wow!
Now that's a tradition that sounds most noble and true, I'd be happy to take part in something like that for the family and all the others lost.
I'm sure they feel very pleased to see that others are remember them and have taken the time to visit them, well done inisipis.
Well done, anything like you said a good little kitchen knife does wonders. Besides there is no real pro way to cut them out and even then its all just for fun and being creative too. ^_^

Have you ever been to one the Night of Dead celebrations down in Mexico, I heard they are really festive. Sorry to hear about that Johnny, always a bit uncomforting to move to a new place and have to lose your old traditions. Any case just take a trip down there again, you know just so you don't feel so blue, just a thought. ^_^;;;;
Will do sir.

BalloonPrincess In reply to Timmy-22222001 [2007-11-03 00:43:45 +0000 UTC]
Well, they dropped it, so it's no longer a concern. There would have been a tax on pumpkins and you had to eat them and then send off a form to get your money back. Let's say you bought a $5 and the tax is 6% ... that would be $.30 and you'd end up spending $.41 just for the stamp. But the government would spend a lot just to try and refund your money to you ...

Jeez so the question is, "Why the hell are we doing this in first place again?" ^o^
One thing you gotta do to make things nutty is to add stupid stuff like taxes to something like Halloween, at least they had it cleared up.
Where the duce did you hear that from?
