Just wondering, even all the sky part is inked black?
I'm so clueless with inks... my only two pens couldn't handle that.

Hi and thanks for the question...the sky was brush painted with India ink (edges finished by pen), then the stars were added free-hand with a Pilot Super Colour White permanent ink. I couldn't have done it all with just pens, either!

I wish I could evolve beyond those ugly digital colors but I can't afford buying random stuff I don't know I might use or not.

Well, a couple of pencils and pens can go a long way (I don't do any colour work myself)...that's what I use 95% of the time! And having only a few tools is actually very good for developing your drawing skills (yours are already good).
