Here's a 6 Inch Cobra Commander custom action figure I've been working on. Based on the look of the classic G.I. Joe villain from the 1980's Real American Hero toy line, cartoon and comic books.

Made using an Alex Rider Yassen body, Marvel Baron Zemo head & Marvel Yellowjacket hands as the starting point. The torso has been halved and now rotates. New hands have been attached. The chest was dremeled down and sanded. A new chest was sculpted along with new buttons and lapels. More length and smoothness was added to the hood. Sculpted new pants for his lower legs to include the spat things over his boots. Belt details and glove flares were added using plasticard and epoxy sculpt as well as modified pouches from several military figures. The knife is made from a customized Indiana Jones accessory. Knife straps and sheath are plasticard. Buckles are sculpted. Aiguillette (the fancy rope on his shoulder) is a modified Indiana Jones whip and epoxy sculpt. All sculpting was carefully sanded to a smooth finish using several fine grit sandpapers.

What started out as a figure with only 5 points of articulation now has 14. Articulation in the hips, wrists and forearms is limited, but they do move some. Neck, shoulder, elbow, waist and knee joints all move cleanly and without paint wear.

The entire figure has been repainted to resemble the evil Cobra Commander. Based with Tamiya Primer and Bright Blue. Smooth, clean finish to the base coats. The figure was then hand detailed using several brands of acrylic and enamel paints. The Cobra logo on Cobra Commander's chest is a custom printed waterslide decal. Matte and glass varnishes were also used on the figure to preserve the paint job and give parts like his boots, gloves and belts a leathery finish.

Had a great time working on this figure. Love the character. Lots of sculpting and the painting was a lot of fun.
