I'm glade I'm not the only one who thinks of this.
And the weird thing is...I have an interesting head canon too: Charlie Delta and Echo are her sisters naturally, Their grand mother is Big One (da big bad raptor of the 1st movie) She had a clutch of eggs, and one of them was the mother of Blue and one Blue's Aunts gave dna to the I. Rex making them Cousins, And Rexy (the t-rex of 1 & 4) is also related to the I.Rex in some way too.
...It's at this point I have come to two conclusions.
1. I have too much free time on my hands
2. I need to stop playing Lego Jurassic World.

For what it's worth, the Pterodactyl doesn't get a whole lot of screentime. Probably the most it got is in the flashback where Jack and Ianto first found the thing.

And then came the magic mutant T-rex.
Which I suppose, in this context, represent the mysterious new transfer student.

Nah, see that's still the big bad guy, and the weird headed pterodactyls are his expendable minions. The normal t-rex is the mysterious transfer student who's secretly a super hero, the raptor squad is a team of magical girls, and Owen is like the leader guy who teaches them their powers and trains them to fight evil in kind of a Master Splinter/Zordon kind of way. The mosasaurus is the anti-hero that you never quite know where their allegiance lies until the final showdown.
