This is good, however the lack of a cutie mark, as well as the cool colors of her mane and tail being in the incorrect order prevents it from being great. Remember, on the visible light spectrum violet is last, easy way to remember the order of your colors is Ultra-violet, and infrared.Β

Though I'll defend not having the cutiemark by saying that this was animation practice with the aim to practice follow-through, overlapping actions, and character posing, and including the cutiemark wouldn't have helped with any of those.

You should get the free trial of flash. Animation is one of those things you only really learn by doing.

The onion skin tool is your best friend. If you don't know what/where it is, look it up. Makes everything a hell of a lot easier.
Learn how to ease your tweens in and out. Tweens without easing are flat and robotic - they look crap. Tweens with easing can save you time AND keep the animation looking good.
Those would be the big two tips I've got.
