Description
I just dug some old photo copies out of a box. This was pre-home scanning era so pardon the quality. Many of you should recognize this image. Joe Madureira and I did this as a promo piece back in the mid 90's. Since then its been used all over the place, from books, to advertising, to clothes, lunch boxes, a monopoly set, etc. I may have to go back and re-ink this for fun. These inks make me wanna puke!Related content

Looks cool! One thing, the middle area of Wolverines mask, the part covering his forhead and top of his head, is yellow. Just the "ears" are black.

Do you guys get any royalties or payouts at all when Marvel proliferates the image across various merchandise?
I mean, it's one thing to use the image in print alone, but like you said, this was such a ubiquitous image of Wolvie I can't help but feel that they take advantage of artists if they pay you only once.

We used to get a very small bonus on t-shirts but not any more. Now we only get a royalty on the books. Sad but true.

to add, this has been my FAVORITE rendition of the wolverine, its a classic. it's a pleasure to have found this here on DA from the original artists. you should definitely re-ink it when you have time, for this is a timeless piece.

of course. you know, if it weren't for great artist's work such as yourself, they wouldn't be selling half as well. nobody wants to buy shitty looking stuff even if its their favorite character. i know i don't, and artist deserve a big deal of credit for it. recently i saw Jim Lee's batman and superman on t-shirts, versions of which i never saw sold like that before, and not even credit was given to him on the shirt. i looked. you guys do GREAT work, and its an industry where so much depends on how great the art looks. its a joke, i would give you guys far more credit where its worth: i.e. your due royalties.

I love the value range in his arm hair. Lol is that a weird compliment to make? In all my inking attempts anything I was trying to create range with via hatching or stipple never quite turned out looking like I hoped and it's always one of the first things I check out in others work!

I think the first time I saw this was on the X-Men movie game for Playstation 1. It was like an extra goodie on the game.
I miss the old 1990's Uncanny take with you and Madureira. Any chance for a reunion...?

Thanks!! Id reunite with Joe any day. We did an issue of Battle Chasers together since then as well as some cover work. As for any future collabs', youll have to ask him.
