Im curious, do you draw this out first? Or is it just one of those things that you keep adding to till you're happy?

Actually i did them separately in single item. Then only I arranged and combined them in a page. After that, touchup and adding some shadows for them.

Very good work, with lot of details and nice touch.
Some minor points: the vehicle has no direction wheel, it looks like a toy. The forged gate is very flat. And I feel there are too much styles of building, the district looks like it had anarchic builders, not looking what was around.
But I like it a lot anyway.

I think you should try to do pixel art too. It's fun. It is completely different from painting. Every single little dot is very important for pixel art. Very challenging.

Fantastic! I keep seeing pixel art on DA, though, and wonder how is it done. What does one normally use? I guess it`s an application, but I can'r figure out which one or the technique behind it. Any tutorial available?

You can do pixel art in just about any graphics program. I use Paint Shop Pro, sometimes even MS Paint. Paint works well for pixel art, the only problem is that there are no layers which often come in handy.

I used adobe photoshop to do this pixelart. Pixelart is not an easy job. It needs to be draw dot by dot (pixel). Sometimes I will draw until I am fuzzy... eyes will pain. But the end up result is good.
I think should be some tutorial in DA, but I never find it. I think there are some books are teaching pixel art in the market too. You get try to get one.
