LOL!!!! yeah! episode 5 makes me like Ayase SOOOO much! She's not a perfect character, but she's so awesome. I also really love how she's in a wheelchair. It's so rare to see a character (good guy or villain) in a wheelchair.

Shu is really coming into his own as a hero/protagonist. He's gotten confidant fairly quickly with extracting voids from people.

hahaha!! yeah! that episode was absolutely hilarious. i love how he still says 'excuse me!!' before extracting the void.
What I like about Shu is that I sometimes find him painful to look at. Not aesthetically (he's a bishie), but his faults and fears are so... human and it's hard to look at your own faults. His disappointments too... and his struggle about what to do with the pen.

Do you think Shu is proud of being a part of Funeral Parlor? I get the idea that he regrets that something like Funeral Parlor needs to exist. A necessary evil of sorts. They do good, but not without doing harm.
I'm not sure if the mechs have in-cockpit pilots or not, but the burden of having to kill people could be weighing heavily on him.

Yeah, I think he is a bit hesitant in joining them. Not sure that it's the right thing. Sort of like when you fight fire with fire: something gets burnt.
I think the mechs have in-cockpit pilots, but as we saw with Ayase in the first episode seems like the pilot can eject themselves. Although, I wonder if it's like a gundam thing where if they get slashed badly enough, they explode and the pilot dies. It will be interesting to see how Shu deals with this.

Ayase is operating her mech remotely. That's why she was able to disconnect Ayase before a fatal blow in the first episode. But some of the mechs have this fine red mist coming out of them after getting cut. It could be that higher end mechs are remotely operated while mass-produced units have men in the cockpit.
I didn't know getting to Kido was a rescue mission! I thought it was a trial or something of that nature. Have you seen Ep. 5 yet?

I admit I missed the red mist... though somehow it seems to trigger some distant memory... It seems to me Shu hasn't fully realized what his fighting is doing since he seems to go badass!Shu when he uses Inori (that sounds so weird hahah)....
