Around 33 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) the Quadrachion Empire's military was undergoing a reorganization and modernization program. During this period, the Quadrachion military was funding the development of a vast array of new military hardware, from capital ships to ground vehicles. Being one of the largest clans in the Quadrachion Empire, the "Kuyaan" Clan got a lot of first pickings of military contracts. One of these contracts requested the development of a new Heavy Armored Personnel Carrier, one that could transport four to size squads of infantry, or a single light vehicle. The Kuyaan Clan's response was the Kuyaan-class Heavy Armored Personnel Carrier. Weighing nearly 100 tons, the Kuyaan-class HAPC was indeed heavy.
Most of the vehicle's weight came from its thick hull armor which granted the vehicle a surprising level of survivability, and when combined with its onboard shield generator, it was nearly unstoppable. However, during trials, the vehicle's shielding was s drain on its main power supply and was instructed to be only used when needed. The Kuyaan-class HAPC was also fairly well armed, capable of taking out most ground vehicles of its day. Having filled every requirement, the Quadrachion Military ordered the vehicle placed into mass production. By 29 BBY, the Kuyaan-class HAPC was in widespread use.
During the Clone Wars, and with the risk of either a Republic or Separatist invasion seeming right around the corner, the Quadrachion Empire had several massive military parades across their Empire to show both sides of the conflict that war with the Quadrachion Empire wasn't desirable. Following the end of the Clone Wars, and the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Kuyaan-class HAPC was replaced with a larger and more powerful model to further deter foreign invasion. From 9 BBY to 1 BBY, the Quadrachion Empire managed to smuggle at least four Kuyaan-class HAPCs to the Rebel Alliance as the Quadrachion High Lord was sympathetic to their cause.

Good luck with taking it down. In the Star Wars universe, the whole "the bigger the vehicle the more at risk it is" doesn' seem to be a thing. Virtually all ground vehicles are far bigger than they have any rights to be, thus it tells me that it doesn't matter if these vehicles get hit for some reason or another.
