Maybe some of you remember the 100 followers event (that will finally be the 400 followers one XD) on my other tumblr ?I finally had the occasion to work on it a bit.
There is only one picture that isn’t for the event. Aside for those, I still need to do one for each princess and one with SoarDash and they foals to conclude it :3
Anyway you don’t even know how much I was happy to hold a pencil in my hands and draw some ponies again huhu. I’m quite happy of those turned out… Usually when i do sketch dump like this, only one or two “satisfy” me and become (maybe) final piece but it will be different for this one since all of these are meant to finished (and that’s maybe the reason I like them better… I probably put more work on them without really realising it…)

And to finish Zecora, my personnal fav out of it ^^

I love night scene but I can't wait to work on this one because of the blue glow coming out from the flower (I know they don't know but I wanted to give a sort of magic feeling)

Let me tell you that I use to not like doing background...
And the mlp fandom changed everything.
I tried to do some time to time because the style easy "simple".
And finally it's not that hard really.

I have a similar experience. I used to draw people and it would take time. Now with mlp I crank out ponies rapidly because of the style. I only post a handful though. It has helped me in recognizing character details and mapping features, I even draw people faster (however less frequently).

Then more reason for you to try with background.
Seriously I think it's simple than with characters somewhat...

Okay, this is not even close for a decent background but here you go! I think sometimes I sketch backgrounds better than I do on the computer ... and sometimes the other way around.

Sorry for taking so long to reply but I have a lot of things to deal with at the time
I personnaly think that you did a really nice job.
Have you though of adding a texture on the tree ? Like some lines and you did some details on the grass around Fluttershy but I think you could have added more around like around the tree.
Maybe even some flowers ?
Anyway it's great that you decided to do one and I only can encourage you do continu
