Description
Free sketch for ~AkiLover93Aki's zodiac is Cancer (connected to the element of water) and she loves the ocean/sea/water in general, so I thought a water-dragon would match her request quite fine.
Sketch made traditionally, lineart and colours in Photoshop CS3
Comments and critiques are very much appreciated

Very nice... Some pretty solid construction. The front flippers look a bit too flatly pointy. Look at sea creatures and study the currrves... It seems like the front fins would look a lot better with more angles to their lines, but other than that, this is nice... Also, a good background would do you a world of good. When entering art contests, a good background to a decent drawing makes the difference between winning a ribbon and not passing the evaluation phase... So practice with making backgrounds, and giving more character to the shapes of your limbs, and you'll look worlds better to my eyes. Above all else, keep drawing though. Dun quit evah!

Oh wow, I'm flattered - Thank you so much for taking your time to write such a constructive comment Comments like this are so rare in these times
You're right about the flippers - they should be more round and have a bit more volume. I'll keep it in mind next time I make a sea dragon
This one wasn't supposed to have a background, but that's definitely something I should practice and draw more often. I do admit I can't make a good background.. At all xD
Thank you once again for giving such a constructive critique

You're very welcome! And you dun need to be so critical on yourself. You're pretty good. Just fight through the discouragement and keep practicing your arts until you're pretty AWESOME at them... =3

The only way to improve, is to be a bit critical and realize the mistakes one make
But once again, thank you for the critique and the encouraging words

Sorry for not having more to say or offer(You certainly don't need anything to improve as an artist )
The first thought that crossed my mind when I saw this featured on your profile page "Ooh, Lovely"
Thanks for making me smile, I needed that

Oh, no need to worry about that. I appreciate every comment, no matter how long or short it might be
There's always room for improvement (at least from my point of view), I should practice different angles and digital colouring a bit more xD
Thank you so much! This was a request from a friend of mine, I had so much fun making it.
Glad it made you smile, you made me smile as well

Thank you ^_^
I prefer flying ones, but sea dragons are easier to draw xD I don't have to think about the wings and the legs

I don't mind drawing their heads, but I have problems with the rest of the body. Anatomy, shape, muscles and all that jazz...

Of course I did, you're my best friend! I thought this would suit your personality quite well, so I couldn't let the idea end up in a box somewhere!

You know, I didn't notice before you said that xD
But I have to agree - at least a little bit... I think it's due to the colours I chose and maybe the pose as well...

Well yes... Did take much time to sketch this guy on paper, and the only reason this took a while was because my Wacom didn't work
Thanks I need to give more of my dragons and animals a body xD Lucky me, working on a giant sea-monster in charcoal now

But does it work again, since you made this?
And...I don't think it looks like a sketch at all. It looks like a finished piece, even without any background xD
That's good! Even though your dragon-heads are beautiful, they deserve a body

Yes, it's working now I've changed the battery on the laptop and plugged it in a different USB-portal, and it's working perfectly right now
I don't think you're the only one who thinks that xD And I will give more of the dragons a body, but not right now. I have to finish the dragons I am supposed to have on my school-books.
