Buttermilk popped into Orange's habitat. He liked how it looked like a tropical forest, designed to be wild unlike Solomon's more comfortable and abstract habitat. He wondered if there was fruit anywhere on the trees. He hadn't picked fruit himself before, he bet it would be really fun. He shook his head, he had to stay on task! Solomon had asked him to investigate so he was going to without any distractions!

He steeled himself and continued forward. Having been in here before, he knew the nest where the other group would most likely be was in the center. He found it and saw they were all there, huddled together asleep. Hunny was sprawled out and awake.

"Hey there."

"Hi!!!"

"Do you need something?"

"Ummm... Yeah! Yes! I do!"

"What is it?"

"Uh, Solomon wanted to know why Orange is sulking and if you guys are a-OK!" He felt overly pleased that he was doing what his Alpha had asked. Usually Peppermint was sent over to ask anything. Or Pixel.

"We're fine. Orange was a dick to all of us, though, I think he hates us, especially Tino. He and Tino had a big fight. Oh, and Tino got his first egg back!"

"Really?!" He wanted to see it! He shook his head again. He had to go back and tell Solomon. "Thanks for telling me!! Bye!!" He waved goodbye and headed off again.

He practically threw himself on top of Solomon when he returned to him. "I did it! Hunny said that they're fine and Orange was a dick to all of them and is mad because he got in a realllly big fight with Tino and Tino has his egg back! That's really exciting! I didn't see it but I realllllly want to I'll go when Tino wakes up he and the others besides Hunny were sleeping."

A fight? That was a bit concerning. But hearing that Tino had an egg was good news. That meant Nickel would be getting one of his back within the next month, and so would Pixel. The thought was exciting. He was looking forward to seeing his two favorite Carriers getting their eggs back and being with the hatchlings. He knew Nickel was frightened that the hatchlings would dislike him, but Solomon had no doubt that Nickel would be a great parent. He was a bit worried about Pixel, but Pixel would surely at least be great at protecting the hatchling, since he had gone to such great lengths to watch over the egg when he still had it.

Solomon smiled at Buttermilk. "Good job. Thank you very much for doing that favor. Would you like anything in return?"

"Hmm!" Buttermilk hung off of him, thinking. He thought of something. "I want a kiss!"

"Alright. Come in front, just don't bother Nickel or Pixel." Buttermilk crawled over on his knees. He leaned forward to kiss the Alpha for a few seconds. He pulled away, smiling brightly. "Heh! Thank you!"

"My pleasure."

Buttermilk thought for a second. "Oh yeah! What exactly does kissing mean? Alphas do it to their Carriers, and Pixel does it to Gigabyte! A lot more than he does to you, too."

"Well, it can mean a lot of things. I suppose it mostly means that you care a lot about the person you kiss. I care about all of you, so that's why we all kiss. And Pixel cares about Gigabyte very much, so he kisses him a lot."

"Really? I guess I should kiss Peppermint and Bon, since I care about them a real lot! And Nickel and Pixel and the others too! Except for Gigabyte since he'd probably shriek, but I'll blow him a kiss to make sure he isn't excluded. I'll do it to Cyanide too so he won't yell at me."

"Give him a peck on the cheek, I'm sure he'd like that. Give him one from me too." Cyanide had explicitly told Solomon that he didn't want to be touched or shown any affection from the Alpha, and would rather be left alone. Solomon supposed Cyanide hated Alphas, since his last one had tried to rip him apart, leaving him infertile. It had been a long while since then, but Solomon didn't want to bother him if he was still wary.

Buttermilk nodded and headed off to find the rest of the group, humming again. He held out his arms like wings and picked up his pace when he saw Peppermint leaning against the tall fence surrounding their outside enclosure. Bon was sitting on the ground next to him, tracing a picture in the dirt.

"Hi!!" Buttermilk skidded to a halt in front of them.

Peppermint smiled. "Hello!" Bon blinked to acknowledge him. "What'th up B'?" Peppermint could see that the smaller Carrier was really excited about something. "Did Tholomon praithe you?"

"Yeah!!" His nearly white grey eyes were shining. He giggled before stepping up close to Peppermint. He got on his tiptoes to give the red and white Carrier a kiss. When he pulled away, Peppermint's cheeks were almost as red as his feathers.

"Whoa, thweetie! What wath that for?"

"Solomon said if you care about someone you kiss them!" He was pretty sure he said it backwards but it didn't matter. He leaned over to do the same to Bon. "I care about you guys a lot!" He balled his fists to prove his point.

"Aww, we do too, B'."

He beamed at the both of them. "Oh, where are Gigabyte, Cyanide, and Mach? I'm gonna kiss them too!"

"Gigabyte won't like that."

"I've got an idea for him!!" Buttermilk huffed. Peppermint laughed. "Cyanide and Mach are over there." He pointed to a group of trees by the building. "Gigabyte ith inthide. He had a headache when he woke up."

"Thanks!!" He headed for Machete and Cyanide first, waving goodbye to Peppermint and Bon as he left. He skidded to another halt in front of the two. Machete was scratching at a rock, but stopped to look up. Cyanide looked mad as usual, his arms crossed and a frown on his face.

"Hi!!"

"Uh...hey..." Machete waved slightly. Cyanide grumbled something that sounded like 'buzz off'. The word buzz reminded Buttermilk of bees, and Peppermint always called him Bee so it made him happy. His cheeks felt warm. Feeling happy, he bent down so he could kiss Machete, startling the dark blue Carrier. His blue eyes widened. "B-B-Butterm...!"

"Solomon said you kiss people you care about!" He stood back up. Machete buried his face in his knees, face burning. Cyanide saw that Buttermilk was looking at him. He scooted away. Buttermilk took a few steps closer. Cyanide got up to start running but the smaller Carrier jumped on him, giggling. "AaH!!"

"I care about you too!" Cyanide struggled as Buttermilk pressed his lips against his. The other didn't get off of him even after pulling away.

"Hehe, that one was from me!" He kissed his cheek. "That's from Solomon!"

"G-get off!!" Cyanide finally squirmed free. He shoved Buttermilk away as he stood and stormed off. Buttermilk waved from his spot on the ground. He hummed happily, rolling onto his back. He spread out his arms and legs, taking in the sun. Machete stared at him once he lifted his head.

"Oh my god!!!" Buttermilk shot straight up.

"Eh?!"

"I forgot about Gigabyte!" He stood up and ran off, nearly stumbling. Machete sighed, realizing he was all alone.
