First things First <--Yeah.. its just loud noises are still really intimidating for some reason. Its kinda like a truck crashes right next to you.
I totally need to get used to these things, or get myself earplugs.

I think earplugs would only make him even more startled by sensing large vibrations and not having the hearing cue of what they were
But hey, that's a perfectly normal response. I often get startled as well just by hearing loud trucks, bus, etc approaching me from behind. Even more startled if they graze me at high speed > >

It's no wonder small animals tend to be so nervous (even more with their better sense of hearing)

My zabrafinches got used to my loudiness. But I can imagine that it is a lot harder for them to learn get used to it ^^'

My cat can say the same. Not about my volume, but predicting if we want to grab him or not

My finches stopped to freak out when I was load, but they gave me that stare like: "Really?" If they could shake their head in annoyance they would have done that.

He does not have a stady place what he could call home. They are traveling around a lot. So It happens from time to time, that they stay somewhere where its loud. ^^'

Oh man, I agree! Loud noises are scary to me too! I used to cry when I was a baby and fire trucks went by. >.<
I need some earmuffs to block out the really loud noises.

I cried a lot when I was a child during the cold war.
When the american jets doing their flights over our village.
They flew so deep when they did their supersonic boom.
It was awful and I developed a phobia about everything that sounds slightly like a bang.
Therefore I was deadly afraid of balloons.

I can remember that our parents brought us inside when that happened so I was afraid of those jets, not knowing why. I was 5 years old.
