His hair swoops to one side and is dyed orange-- his "natural" hair color is black. His favorite outfit is a black tank top with camouflage-printed pants and combat boots.

It's very hard to provoke real, raw emotions from this demon. Not that he never gets angry or depressed, but it's difficult to tell. He's quiet and calm, always trying to figure other people out and analyze how satisfied they are with their lives. Part of that is to weed out the negative energy to feed off of, and part of it is just curiosity. He hates it when people see him lose his cool and would rather be passive-aggressive or use the silent treatment if he had to fight at all. He is petty with his decisions and never forgets when someone does something that annoys him. As a demon who craves negative energy, he finds it hard to be anything but pessimistic about life on earth.

On the bright side, he is the type to step up to leader-like positions if no one else is willing, as he prefers things if they're done his way. He's good at communicating his thoughts, clear and precise for whoever may or may not require his wisdom. He's too young to know everything about the universe, but he knows quite a bit about normal human life. He is a father to many, in a sense, in the way that he treats those younger than him. He is protective of the weak and innocent and completely ignores anyone he deems unworthy of his time. To earn kind words from this man, all you need to do is show that you have a little heart.

There were many other demons with more specific and helpful abilities, those who helped with fertilization, good luck, bad luck, stealing hearts, etc. But one day, someone called him-- the master of snakes and despair.

It was a difficult ritual to perform, and he wasn't sure that the black witch, Archie, was prepared enough for the task. Ace, having never appeared in front of mortals in such a way before, had a hard time maintaining any physical form. He couldn't stand it. If the witch wanted to talk to him, then he wanted to be on the same level as him-- not as a giant snake trying to fit itself within the walls of the witches cramped home. The demon, not knowing any better, stole the body of a different man in the room: Archie's lover. In exchange, the man's soul was trapped in his shadow, and his physical body was no more... merely another form for the demon to take and mess with. The original identity of the man who Ace physically "killed" was no more, and since he would be living in this world for quite a while longer, he decided to change it more to his liking. Renamed. Upgraded. He would eventually leave the witch who summoned him without giving him much more than a slightly extended life in return for bringing him there.

He was, admittedly, very insensitive for taking away the witches lover and walking around with his face. Ace didn't know any better. He was just a demon, and had no experience when it came to relationships with others. He had no need for sensitivity towards humans and nightwalkers.

But he tried to understand for a while.

Ignoring Archie (he had apparently, been seeking other demons' help and was too busy to entertain him anyways) Ace made many "friends" over the span of many years. He wasn't a perfect citizen, of course-- he joined gangs, contributed in many crimes, and was a bystander for countless more. All of those friends died young, he learned. So he looked for something new to do.

There was a period where he studied. A time when he found art. A year where he thought that he might, finally, have found a sort of "love." Keiki was her name. A black witch with a love for metals and gems-- someone with power, who was known for having many nightwalker familiars. He was attracted to her passion and sense of humor, even when learning about his past and true identity. They became partners. Ace had to remind himself time and time again that... witches and demons were not allowed to have children in this world. He personally did not see the problem with it, but for Keiki's sake, he thought it was something they should avoid. He didn't want to make her give up any child of her own.

Accidents happen.

His partner was forced to stay indoors for months. No one could know she was pregnant, as she was determined to actually give birth to it-- even if it was dangerous, and she hated it. She grew more negative by the day until Ace wasn't sure she was the same person he grew to love over the years. When the child was born, they decided together that Keiki would take the imp to one of her friends to kill, as that was generally the rule when the situation occurred. Ace suggested with a genuine tone that maybe she should get the witch who summoned him to kill the newborn. Maybe it would suffice to get rid of any lasting ill-will against him for his inappropriate acts when he first arrived into the world. Keiki agreed-- anything, if it would get rid of the imp.

He has no idea if Archie was okay with the idea, but it seemed like things went well when Keiki left with an imp and returned empty-handed. Their relationship didn't last very long after that, and he slowly drifted away into the town of Greystone, where he became a freelance artist. He made a note to himself to have a child someday, but not one he would have to give away.
