Description
Corel's Painter is a great software package that comes close to natural media. But those who have tried it also know it's hard to make it look really natural. With the new Artist Oils in Painter version 9 Corel came close, but still it got a hint of digital in it..With my Painter project I am trying to mimic the natural media look and fell, refining custom brushes so I can get as close as possible. I am def. still not there, but getting closer imo. One day when it all works like I wan't it to, I will release some brushes or a tutorial.

The textures are very cool. I do find that Painter can really make things look natural after subtly applying special effects, such as surface texture and surface lighting. I usually need to tone these effects down and tweak the light sources for both, to pull it off right, but I have found the finished products to be satisfactory and often capable of tricking people. I have been declined from sharing my stuff with digital groups in the past, all because they thought various pieces of mine were traditional.

Wow, is this artists oils? This is nice, it definitely looks natural (unlike what I do).
I also use Corel Painter, but I'm lost at what medium to choose; acrylics, oils, digital/non digital watercolor, artists oils, argh!!! Do you have any idea what the benefits are of these, or which ones work better than others? (Dif. between oils and artists oils? the watercolors?)
Sorry, I'm bugging everyone I can find who uses Corel Painter. Hope you don't mind too much...Too many choices... but it's an awesome program. *heads to your gallery*

Cant wait to see that tutorial. I'm thinking of buying a wacom tablet, only because of your works I must learn how to paint digitally. Screw photography
If this could be printed with textures, I'd say it'll be hard to see the difference between your digital oil and chemical oil.

your work is awesome friend. As for this you need to make the shadows of the distant building softer, there is much air between the viewer and the building.

Nifty. It looks like an old ruin of a lost civilization. Nicely done.

I know what you mean. I've worked with Corel Painter myself, and I think you really did a good job of making this picture look like it was done in natural media. In fact, if you wouldn't have said anything, I wouldn't even had known at all. Great work. Really, great work.
