Background:
▶ Born to a very young couple, a savvy traveling merchant and a woman who fell for his charm. The pregnancy was a secret, the nomadic man had no clue of his new daughter until he came back to the same place he met the woman a year previous- now a mother toting a young babe in her arms.

The womans love and charmed nature quickly faded after the pregnancy- especially when it took so long for him to come back. Raising a child was hard, she was too young to be anchored to motherhood. When she found him a year later, she thrusted the few month old toddler into his arms and vanished.

The road was dangerous- no place for a child, especially not when he had wares to protect. He gave young Elodie to his mother, who Elodie would later on affectionately dub 'Meemaw.'

Meemaw raised Elodie well into her pre-teens, teaching her basic education such as writing while instilling a sense of wonder and adventure for what lay out beyond the sand dunes of the desert. She had the itch for adventure, for travel, just like her father. He would occasionally take her on trips around the region, these trips increased in frequency as she got older. One particular trip when she was 6 earned her the ring she's protective of- and a friend. One she can't remember, but she does remember their promise, to join the Paladins. A secret kept from her Pa.

For her 13th birthday, she finally whittled her Pa down into agreeing to let her travel with him. She WAS a teen after all, and teens are responsible and like mini grown-ups. That was when the world and all its possibilities opened up to Elodie- traveling around the region with her Pa and seeing everything the world had to offer barely satisfied that itch for adventure. She wanted to see more, do more, be more.

As the years carried on, Elodie took on more responsibilities to help out her Pa. Book keeping, peddling, resource gathering. She also met interesting people along the way.... folks like Kidd. As she got older, the promise she kept got louder in the back of her mind.

She would have to tell her Pa and split from him... the day after her 26th birthday, she surprised him with the news. He took it better than expected, though he still cried rivers when they finally parted.

With a tearful goodbye, she turned to start a new chapter in her life- to fulfill a burning promise she had made nearly twenty years ago.

To accurately sum up Elodie in a few words, she's like a stubborn old bull that's had run of the farm for too long. She's headstrong, opinionated, loud, and strong. She doesn't enjoy her authority being challenged and will show off her horns if she feels that's threatened.

Life on the road with her money-savvy father has taught how to nickle and dime just about anyone. Money is important and she wants lots and lots of it. She's frugal and aggressive, wielding coupons like a weapon. Being a traveling merchant has also shown Elodie a lot of stuff and given her a taste of freedom she won't so readily give up. She doesn't like tying herself to much, such as people, relationships, or even a stationary home. The Paladins shall prove a new challenge if they aren't too nomadic.

Under the thick skin Elodie is like most others, malleable will and a desire to connect to people- even if she's distrusting and worried they'll screw her over like her mother did to them. Money is a good void filler and can buy happiness, or at least she thinks so...
