Description some sketches of Ultimate Reed Richards/Maker, his transformation from an unhappy, timid little nerd to deranged villain is fascinating but also heartbreaking.

You know what's sadder than Ultimate Reed Richards becoming a villain? The fact that he saw the family he could have had when he visited Earth-616 during Cataclysm and still remained a villain, and later met 616-Reed on Battleworld, who he decried as soft with 616-Reed saying he was like that because, unlike Ultimate Reed, he cared about others...and Ultimate Reed just taunted him by showing him his family with Dr. Doom before attempting to kill him before the Multiverse was restored. That's just sad.

He's too far gone for sure, I'm glad they really went there with him though because he's a very interesting villain.Β

Considering the world he came from and the life he lived, it's understandable he would turn into the "Maker". Β Just imagine if you were the smartest person in the world, but you grew up being bullied by schoolmates and your own family before being enlisted by your country's government to build weapons and machines for war when you only wanted to improve your world. Then imagine you finally meet that special someone (aka Sue Storm) who you feel you can be with to bring you peace along with some friends to help you make a positive difference in the world as superheroes. Next, imagine you also were responsible for creating a horrible supervillain (aka Doctor Doom) that had a hand in causing the death of millions of people including the loved ones of your "special someone" (Sue's Dad and Mom) and she decides to end any positive long-term relationship with you (like marriage) because of that mistake and the fact you were busy trying to make things right instead of pining after HER. Next, imagine your team of friends gets disbanded and you are sent back home to your abusive household before being visited by a "future" version of your significant other saying that the world will turn into a Hell and you are the only one who can stop it. Pile all that stress, loneliness, and pain upon the world's greatest mind with an ego to match?Β

It was inevitable that this Reed would become the "Maker". It would make less sense if he didn't. I'm glad Reed's horrible Earth is dead. Β  Β

Beautiful speech, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Ultimate Universe.

Of course. There were many great moments. The Cyclops of that world was much better than the mainstream one. He seemed like he had more of his mess together and didn't have as many issues with relationships. He even made friends with Toad from the Brotherhood and ended the psychotic Magneto. Spiderman was great. Nick Fury was cool even if he was a total bastard who I wanted dead for more than a dozen comic issues. It had a lot of potential, but in the end, it didn't matter.Β

Dammit.....I loved Ultimate Reed, he was one of my favorite super heroes when I started to read comics and his relationship with Sue was just adorable. It broke my heart when it was revealed that he was the one responsible of the many explosions and the death of his own family

Loved the sketches btw, you did a...."fantastic" job

I like Reed a lot too! His fall in the Ultimate Universe is a tragic thing, but I also found it an interesting twist. I like how looking back on everything you notice that something bad was brewing under the surface all along, it's just sad that no one caught it before it was too late.

And thank you!

Now that I re-read some of the old issues, you are right! There was something off with him, even in his first appearences, he was more violent when things didn't work out at his favor.
I believe Jonathan Hickman one said that the reason Reed Richards is not a supervillain is because of the love of his family, so it actually made sense whith Reed going crazy since Sue, Ben and Johnny left him.....actually now that I think about it....it's incredibly tragic and sad

Well Ultimate Reed might have gone crazy....but we still have Main Universe Reed as a hero and he is definetely one of my top heroes n_n

Great sketch of Ultimate Reed. It good to finally see a sketch of an Ultimate Reed or Fantastic Four for that matter as the Ultimate Fantastic Four was one of few comics that I read. Keep up the good work!
