Tio-Trile — What Sherlock can't do in the Hound

Description The lines are from Arthur Conan Doyle's "the Hound of the Baskerville"
For those of you who haven't read the novel *glares*, Dr. Watson was investigating in Baskerville Hall while Holmes "stayed in London". Dr. Watson notices a strange man who lives on the moor and reports him to Holmes--only to find that Holmes was with him all along.
That is my favorite part from the Hound, so I was a little disappointed at BBC's Sherlock because they didn't do it that way. But, after thinking, I noticed that they didn't do it because they couldn't do it.

What do you mean by "they couldn't do it"?

What I mean is that Sherlock has too distinctive an outline for John (and the audience) to mistake him for anyone else, or to "not know who the man on the moor is".

I liked that bit too. The art in my copy is horribly blurry. I think I might just remember yours every time now.

yes, i also was hoping the BBC would do that part with watson in the cave terrified when someone approach, then realize it's holmes and all happy, i wanted to see how BBC manage it. but they didn't. Still the BBC did a really great episode and i must admit they the screenwriters are very creative!

Well they sort of did it with John in the cage fearing the hound but it turns out that it's Sherlock. But yeah, Watson hiding with the revolver...hng

Oh Yeah! The cage scene is the Cave, Holmes let Watson out to investigate himself! Darn, didn't get that reference, Clever!

Yeah...Moffat and Gatiss always have these really clever and sorta subtle references that make Sherlock Holmes book fans go "Hah! I see what you did there"...that's why we love them!

They did have Sherlock standing on the edge of a tor. When he points at Baskerville in 'Grease Lightning' style. And I LOVE the comic. It's hilarious. And I adore the way you've captured Sherlock's coat in the fourth panel!

I read it a few years ago and when I got to the Hound episode I was wondering how they would do it. I was kind of hoping they'd do something similar, but having Sherlock in the entire episode and then they did the scene with Sherlock doing the experiment thing on John and I loved it!
And I love the last panel so much XD

Yes--and I was happy they actually pulled out a Dr.Who-ish Supernatural-ish monster "Hound" and made it reasonable. The only thing is that it wasn't glowing green.

I read the Hound after having seen the episode and all through it I was confused as to the whereabouts of Sherlock. I confess that I did not make the connection fast enough (though I have to say I was faster than Watson) and I agree that the reveal is great. I quite like how they did it on Sherlock too though. Both work.

yeah I guess people like what they see first. But in Sherlock, Sherlock also sort of tricked John.

True. But I usually hate going to source material after seeing the adaptation but this time it was OK.
