Description
The numbing ended as soon as Katara’s conscious mind awoke. She clutched the smooth fabric beneath her in her sweaty palms, gasping for breath as grief settled on her chest. It grasped at her heart like a rock glove, stung her eyes like the black smoke of war, coated her skin as a thick oil; she felt it ooze down her dry throat, causing bile to rise. Fragments of her brother's harsh but sad voice from the night before flashed in her mind.

"There is a reason the river is known as Dragon's Teeth; although it is deep, razor sharp rocks are littered everywhere within it, not to mention the creatures that live there."

She coughed heavily, attempting to rid her throat of this horrible assailant, rubbed her arms as if it would scrape the molasses grossness off her body. But it clung to her, digging its way into her pores, sinking into her skin and polluting her organs.

"No one has ever been known to survive falling into it, even at half the distance he fell from..."

A wave of dizziness made her roll onto her side, and she shuddered as she struggled to keep what little she had previously eaten in her belly. A soothing warm voice drifted through her head.

"There are reasons why some things happen in our lives...the Universe pushes and pulls us this way and that, impartial to our emotions and what we want, and in the end balances the world when we push the scale." The old man fixated his golden eyes on her. "What do you feel, Katara? In your whole being...do you believe my nephew is truly gone from this world?"

Katara closed her eyes, wishing for the constant aching to wash away and leave her in the numbness she had fallen into while Suki and Sokka prevented her from stumbling to the crumbling cliff’s edge, the chasm's river of a tongue hissing faintly below and wrapping itself around glass jagged rocks...

Her voice trembled when she spoke. "He can't be dead. I won't believe it."

The dizziness faded, and the dim light from her room's curtained window brightened as the sun rose in the sky, dust particles shimmering in its beams.

Yeah...this entry is late. Super late. -is shot- :'D But I wasn't feelin' the writing quite yet, you know? xD It is the continuation of Day 3 Pain.

The written part of this entry ties into the reference to Oma and Shu- Iroh talks of the Universe and the spirits always dabbling in the affairs of the living in order to keep the balance and peace in the world. The spirits messed with Oma and Shu, pulling apart the lovers with Shu's death which caused Oma to freak and end the war between their two villages.

To give justice to the lovers, they gave the two another chance to be together (reflected in their gold & blue eyes)- but sometimes it doesn't end up as the spirits think...

Harmony = balance = water/fire and spirit reincarnation contrast. It fits...right? ^^"
