I saw babypaste art of Sphinx Somnambula and I 100% agree that the Pillars should’ve been different species.

Rockhoof reminds me of a big strong viking, so I looked up animals that live in and around Scandinavia and decided to make him a reindeer.

I’ll be doing all the pillars and including them into the Auroraverse. Anyway, onto the head canons.

Rockhoof Styrkeson Hov is the son of King Styrke andKing Stjerne Hov. He was the oldest of five children, three sisters and two brothers. His fathers were the ruling kings of a large part of early Scandineighvia (get it? I’m a dumbass).
Like his father Styrke, he focused more on his strength than his magic, he can perform basic reindeer magic that allows him to prance through the sky, but doesn’t really do much more.
When Star Swirl showed up to ask for help saving his people, Rockhoof, being a kind hearted soul, offered to help. He and his family were assured by Star Swirl he’d return in a couple of months. As we know, he didn’t, he would go down in reindeer history as a legendary figure.
In terms of pony history, many assumed since Star Swirl the Bearded was a pony, the other pillars merged from their original species into ponies. After the Pillars return, this fact would be changed.
When they return, Rockhoof travels to Scandineighvia and visit the place where his home once stood. It would be a while before he’d speak to Star Swirl, as the stallion would reveal that he knew the spell would make them disappear alongside the Pony of Shadows.

So, like I said in the beginning, I love the idea of the Pillars being different species.

One of my side headcanons is that Star Swirl knew his spell to defeat the Pony of Shadows required the casters to be imprisoned with it. I think that he’d have kept that little fact hidden from the other Pillars. So when they do return, in my opinion, I fell like there should’ve been some kind of confrontation between him and the other Pillars.

Cause I mean if you got trapped in other dimensions and returned to find everyone you knew was dead, the general reaction would be anger. These are just my thoughts, what do you guys think?
