Zjorken Hvar. Few names strike more fear or hatred into a young goblin’s heart. Disgruntled members of the tribe started called her that within a generation of their banishment from the boundaries of Tialah’s domain. Sorrow’s Spring, the source from which all their sorrows and struggles began, or so they would whisper. A deathless witch who kept them from the bounty and riches the largely uninhabited mountains could provide.

The Elders however, kept their promise alive, for they knew how truly lenient Tialah had been in their exile. It helped reinforce their guidance that Tialah was merciless in her punishment for those foolish enough to flaunt her edict. Every few years the body of young, bold, goblin would be gently delivered by Krajercek, whose size, more imposing as the decades wore on, and imagined ferocity became almost legendary. The sight of him flying high above the distant mountains was enough to send goblin children to hide in their homes.

But as with most short-lived species, their collective memories faded, and the reasons for their banishment was lost or distorted in the telling. By the time of Gwen’s ill fated expedition, almost 200 years after their exile, the goblins, by and large, were already readying themselves to challenge the witch in the mountain. Emboldened by newfound weapons, a raiding party sets upon Tialah, who has been tracking the traces left behind by those responsible for the carnage she found in the ruins of Terheld.

This shot is a recreation of Character Study - Tialah , one of the first renders that a prototype version of Tialah appeared in. She has been the focus of most of my renders for the last year, but has changed quite a bit, so I wanted to try my hand at this shot again. My asset library has grown considerably from that shot so I am better able to show her surroundings. I like to think my skills have grown as well, although there is a vast amount of room for improvement.
