used a HiTech Infrared filter on a production nikon d70 for this one. I think this filter is most similar to Cokin 007

which ir filter do u recommend? and how do u get the white trees w/ the insane colored sky?

hoya r72 is the most versatile and most popular filter..
you can change the colours in PS using channel mixer or hue adjustment

is that how u do it? and the white trees... how do u go about getting those?

tisbone In reply to CapturingNature [2007-01-08 11:13:11 +0000 UTC]

just desaturate and lighten their colour in hue dialog

so do u use layer masks and what not? if you do doest that mean u trace around all the trees w/ a brush? if thats what u do then why even use the IR filter? u can pretty much do it all in photoshop..

try and see that the effect won't be as nice
IR shots are usually duochrome - plants have one colour and the rest - another.. that's why one doesn't have to brush between the leaves

o alright didnt know that... why do only the plants take on a different color?

I don't know for sure.. their IR reflecting properties are just so specific
