Can I ask you how do you manage to get so tiny tiny details? I've been doing polymer clay for a while now, but I never seem to get a good enough dexterity to get to that level of detailsΒ Β

Ah sorry for the delay, I somehow missed your message!Β
I couldn't see any clay in your impressive gallery of drawings so I can't see the comparison and don't know if your details are really so much bigger than mine. For me, I think, is down to the use of tools. My clumsy fingers are too big so I use a scalpel to cut the detail and transfer it where it should be and a needle to press it down. Also I try to be calm while working, if I start to hurry or get nervous my hands start to shake ^^'.
I hope it helps a little, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask .
/hugs!

Thank you for your answer . I only ever posted thisΒ Smol Houses Β to DA or tumblr. Of course here I wasn't aiming at the same kind of details, but if I was to do something similar in the future I'd like to include more detailed branches or roots. Do you have any advice on how to make these?

I have photos of work in progress making wooden boardsΒ
With branches in would be similar but smaller I think. I start with the thickest needle and then go for the smaller one. Or if your clay is soft you can just use an old toothbrush to add some texture over the thick details .Β
I think this is one of the best illustrations of what I mean I made:
I like to create a sort of flow to the texture and here I think I achieve it .Β
What I have a difficult time with is to let go of my idea of perfection and mess it up a bit. That way it looks more natural and like something alive.Β
I hope it helped and if you have any questions please ask . It's fun for me to try answering and I love to share
.

Thank you for your answer, it does help!
Yes you did achieve the flow to the texture. I'm like you it's difficult to let go of the idea of perfection.
How long did it take you to create the journal cover and the tree necklace? (great job on both by the way!)
About the tree, did you make clay "spaghettis" that you tangled together to make the shape of the tree and then add the texture?
