Well, it's clear, but the white appearance is the result of light being refracted from the clear hair strands.

Not PERFECTLY clear, I guess. The many hairs must make it appear white.

Oh yes! I read it in an encyclopaedia about bionics, it said they may use this effect in technology in the future.
