In the places where the shadowfell lies thick are monsters that haunt the nightmares of men. Some like to believe that they are formed of dreamstuff, that they are the product of the imaginations of men, that these misshapen monstrosities are a nightmare given form.

This is a comforting lie that puts man at the center, where the worst things in creation are his own.

They aren't made of dreamstuff; they are eating it. Every day, they eat a little more, and draw a little bit closer to entering this world of ours.

Be wary when you walk in places full of shadow, for every day, they draw a little bit closer.

And if you should survive an encounter with one, take notes - we're going to need them.
