There are numerous legends of magical swords, powerful artifacts which can slice through armor and shield as if they weren't there, or burst into flame.

But swords are sidearms, weapons that nobles and officers would wear by their sides, or that a soldier would keep as a backup weapon for close quarters combat when their main weapon was not useful or broken.

Polearms win wars.

And none has won so many wars as this.

Made in the days when the Primordial Chaos reigned, Tethys was made from the waters of the First Sea, forged in an underwater volcano by one of the first titans, whose name was erased by the gods when they won the war.

While its maker is dead and gone, Tethys remained, and throughout history, its many wielders have commanded the waters of the world, which remember the place from whence they all once came. Rain will fall or cease with a wave of the polearm, rivers will part or cease their flow, the sea will roll back or flood in, all at the behest of its wielder. Armies have been washed away, bows and gunpowder alike ruined, fields turned into muddy bogs or rivers held back to allow an impossible flanking attack against an army who believed the waters of the river prevented such a maneuver.

An army led by a man with a magic sword is dangerous. But there are worse things in this world to face.
