A warlock trades and bargains for it, and almost always ends up short.

A sorcerer is born with it; it runs in their blood, and they can deny it as much as they can deny their own ears. They have magic of their own - but they did not earn it.

A wizard must spend years of study to master the most basic cantrips, to learn how to bend the weave of magic to their will, to speak the words of power that need be spoken to unlock the true power of the universe.

A wizard earns their magic.

But many wizards do not call necromancers their equal. They claim them to be little better than warlocks - stealing from the dead, instead of earning it for themselves through time and study and practice.

They do not see the hours spent trying to coax the faintest glow from a skull.

They do not see the days spent trying to get the dead to speak a single syllable.

Necromancers earn their magic as much as anyone else.

And they are fools for thinking otherwise.
