Description
Rainbow Dash (from MLP FIM) as Faith (From Mirror's Edge)Inspired by this: [link] by (I stole his title, cause it was great, and I never have ideas for good titles^^° Hope he won't mind), cause I loved this idea, and I wanted to draw something about this crossover...
Using [link] as a reference, and an old sketch I used for this: [link] cause I was too lazy to make a totally new sketch...
[link] This pic give me the idea for her skin.

Edit
I was told that dark skin didn't look good on her, so I played a little with Gimp to give her a lighter skin, and here are the two versions...

I'm disappointed that you let others tell you Dash can't be dark skinned and then changed it. There's nothing wrong with a dark skinned humanized pony! I like all varieties of Dashie but I'm preferable to the darker skin tone here.
Keep in mind, I can't draw people to save my life (which is partly why I read through tutorials like these), but yours looks great! It just sounds like you need more confidence in the color palette for skin tone. If you need help figuring out color palettes for skin tones, you could also use ones others have created: [link] [link] [link] (There's a gimp version available of that last one, too!) And of course I would be remiss if I didn't point out navate's amazing skin guide & tutorial: [link] [link] [link]

You made me want to draw someone with a more colored skin than usual!
She's not dark skinned, just tanned. And I did it using the tutorials you gave me, so I thought I should show you how it turned: [link]

The problem here wasn't Dash being dark skinned, but more the way I did it. I really like Dash with a dark skin ton! (In fact, I prefer her to be really tanned, and Twilight to be dark skinned but that's an other story )
But I didn't really like the way I did it there... She was too yellowish for me, and I thought it didn't fit really well with her hair and clothes. That's why I wanted to change it, but I kept the dark skin version too!
I fact, I would need to redraw the complete picture to be satisfied with it, because I didn't spend enough time on it, and I think I've improved since, but I would never find time for this^^°
And thanks for the color palettes and tutorials!
I've already read the one by , but I never really used it, and I really should!

Oh, I love this, both versions. I tend to prefer the cast being coloured as they are in the series (Rainbow blue, Pinkie pink, Twilight purple), but I really have a fondness for dark-skinned versions of Rainbow and Twilight.

Get's a thumbs-up from me!
You may have gone too yellow with her skin. I usually try to err on the side of red/pink when choosing skin tones.

I think both look equally good, but having seen so many knee jerk reactions to humanized ponies being drawn with darker skin, I'm inclined to vote dark. Mainly because comments like, "Good picture but (i know its a bad habit) im kinda racist so i dont like her face," cause just the teensiest, eensiest flare up of rage for me .

I actually like the darker skin better. I've always pictured Rainbow to at least be tan. I like it when people draw the mane cast as multiracial.

I also think that Rainbow should be very tan, but I don't know why, the dark skin didn't turn as I wanted on this, maybe I should have done it more orange and less brown...

Yeah, I try and play around with skin tones. It's difficult to get them to turn out right because there are so many hues and shades that goes into it.

I've found a great tutorial about skin tones, even if I have never used it: [link]
I love drawing characters as Darth Maul or the Na'vis from Avatar, due to the color of their skins, it make them really interesting to color, and you can add a lot of fun shadows to them

I haven't even finished the game^^°
I loved it, but then I loosed all my saves, and I didn't have time to begin one more time since the beginning, so I gave up.
But now it's holidays, so maybe I'll find some time to play it again^^

They both look good, but the lighter one is better

I'd say lighter skin color like 2nd panel looks better on her. Or maybe not as dark as the first panel. I've seen her with tannish skin color and she didn't look so bad.

She's great with a tannish skin, but you're right, the first one is too dark.
If I draw something else with Rainbow, I'll try to make her skin more orange, not brown like as on this.

Thanks
(I need people's opinions, do you prefer her with dark or light skin?)

Wow, you cut right to it, don't ya?
I'm sure there's a whole slew of cultural subconscious stuff influencing this opinion, but there's also a very solid artistic reason that I think her skin should be light, that being that it works better with her hair. Dark skin could work . . . if it was slate-grey, like a drow. Seeing as how that's not a human skin tone, though, your best option is to go light. I think you'd be OK giving her a tan, but African skin tones just don't work with the hair.
Looking at the updated image, I've personally confirmed my hypothesis; I think she looks better with lighter skin.
