Now that you've seen it, here is what I would add and change to make it a more serious tale.

I would add that Kryptonians are a tribe of heroic warriors that thrived before history was recorded, explaining why no one's heard of them.

They originally built a city around a meteor called the Sunstone, which caused genetic mutations in the Kryptonians due to ionization. Thus they are endowed with extremely high intelligence and strength, as well as an exceptional capacity and drive to perform good deeds (or evil with the likes of Zod and his followers).

One of things I would change is for the main villain to be Vohc, the god of evil in Kryptonian mythology. He leads an army of Dheronians instead of the Parademons, with Doomsday as part of Vohc's army.

The king of the Kryptonian gods, Rao, is the one who granted the Kryptonians a secret island, bless Jor-El and Lara with a son, and task them of watching over Vohc.

Kal-El was given an enchanted sword, called the Sword of Rao, and an indestructible shield. The Sword of Rao resembles the Sword of Superman (which first appeared in Superman Annual #10); and the shield resembles Super-Soldier's literal S-shield from Amalgam Comics.

Kara Zor-El would take the same role as Donna Troy.
