2012 has been a very dynamic year, lots of ups and downs and I'm glad I can put a lot of things behind me and start fresh in the next year. Tho, I have to say the community here has helped me grow and appreciate what I have a lot. So as a token of my appreciation my last piece is available as 1920res wallpaper. It's called Incursion because my first piece of this year was called Invasion and it helped me kick things off right.

How was this made?
This piece relied heavily on matte painting techniques, clearly visible in the buildins - so no, dont panic, its not all hand painted.
How much is painted then?
I'd say a good 40%. The foreground is painted, as are most of the rocks and sky. A lot of color corrections, lighting and general blending is all done with paint
How long did it take you?
This painting took me roughly 10 hours to complete.

Oi oi oi, great atmosphere. I love the colors. There's much we can learn from you, and I'm happy you allow us to.
And wow, 10 hours... I would have needed much much more. I tend to screw up my composition, changing it more than actually paint on the piece. :,D At least, when it is not about a simple character design. Seems I have to train that too. Speed.
Oh and while I'm at it. I wish you a happy new year for when the time has come. xD (not sure if the english phrase should only be said at 12:00am.)
